One day not too long ago, I thought I might write a poem about these two lovers, Wanda and Ian- that is, Wanderer and Ian O'Shea. Isn't the Host so awesomely amazing?!

Disclaimer: I don't own The Host or any part of it and will never own it, no matter how many times I wish for an Ian-clone.

Bold: Ian

Italics: Wanda

I held you.

I really held you,

Not the body you were joined to,

But you,

The one I fell in love with,

The Soul within the body,

The beautiful Soul.

How can you say that,

That I am beautiful.

I am a worm,

An alien,

And yet you love me,

A Soul within a body.

How can I not love you,

I dream of you,

I held you in my hands.

I hold you now,

Your small body,

But I fell in love with you,

The Soul within this body.

So you say her body was nothing to you,

That through her body's lips you heard me.

I am alien,

You are human,

We were never meant to be,

Until I came here,

Within the human body.

You are no alien to me,

You are the world to me,

Carried to me through the stars,

Across the desert plains,

Through the stone mountain,

To me, the human,

Waiting to fall in love with a Soul.

You really believe we were meant to be,

That fate intended us to be.

Oh my Ian, how can I not love you,

The human who loves a Soul,

You who love me for myself,

Not the face,

But the emotions shining through it.

Wanda, I need your promise,

That you will never leave me again,

That you will never let me see you,

Your beautiful you outside a body.

Stay with me forever,

Do not break my heart again,

My Soul within this body.

My Ian, I promise,

What need is there to leave you.

I promise we shall leave together,

An old man and woman,

But now we are young,

Now I promise my love to you,

May you love me as you want to.

I will never let go of you,

My love, my Soul,

There will always be a place for you in my arms,

My beautiful Wanderer,

My Soul within a body.

You are mine, I am yours,

We will always belong together.
