A/N: I don't know the amazing extent of all the Batman stories (comics, games, movies, etc). I've seen the movies (old and new) and have read a FEW graphic novels so please keep that in mind. This was just a little something I came up with one night.

Just thought I'd put it out there to just see others thoughts, etc. Be kind!

"You're not beyond redemption."

"Oh yeah? Why would you care about my redemption anyhow, Bman? You should be happy! You've finally gotten what you've wanted all this time..."

She had a point, in a way. Joker had been Batman's number one nemesis for as long as he could recall. Through the years, no matter what new villain rose, the Joker remained. Until recently.

Since his demise, Gotham had settled in a way no one expected but most welcomed. It had been weeks since the signal had graced the sky and when Batman went to it - expecting some sort of police tip left or even Gordan - there was only her. Harley Quinn. Actually, looking at her, she didn't resemble much of the spirited criminal Batman had become accustomed to over the years. She sat at the edge of the building, her legs dangling over. It was a familiar scene to him; one he had successfully talked people down from a number a time, but he wasn't expecting to have to do the same for her.

"Why didn't you kill me too, Bats?" He heard the shaking in her voice and almost felt a tug in himself. Was it sympathy?

"I know you won't believe this but...I never wanted to kill him." He watched as her head snapped toward him. Her blue eyes seemed even icier. Her eyes were red and slightly swollen from what he assumed was hours or days of crying.

"Bullshit! You've spent the last...I don't know how long... trying to kill my puddin' and you've finally succeeded!" The reality of the last part of her sentence hit her like a truck and she threw her face into her hands, sobbing. Silence blanketed them for a few moments.

"Why aren't you trying to avenge him?" Another few moments of sobbing finally died down.

"I've tried. I just can't. I'm nothing without Mistah J." Bruce felt his body untense under his suit. He wasn't sure what to do next. He was well aware of how dangerous and manipulative Harley could be but at the same time, He couldn't help but feel as though he should comfort her. Wanted to comfort her. "Just take me back to the slammer or kill me already." Another few moments passed.

"What if I offer you something else?" She looked over her shoulder at him.

"Like wha? Wha' funny business ya plannin now?" Bruce shook his head as he took a few steps closer to her.

"No funny business. It'll be a chance for me to help you." She narrowed her eyes at him. "It's the least I can do for you." She considered the offer, although there really wasn't much details. He extended his hand to her and waited. Slowly she took it.

Truthfully, neither of them knew what it would result in but they both knew they couldn't lose someone else.

This really wasn't written with the intent to continue it..although I'm toying with the idea. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts and such so review! :D
