The smell of fresh bacon roams around the room. The sound of loud rumbling comes from within as Shepard's eyes slowly open while managing to adjust to the lights. The smell still lingered as Ella's stomach growled once more, forcing her to climb out of the comfort of her shared double bed. Her muscles began to ache with every movement as her legs were the first to feel the pain while walking towards the wardrobe to pick out clothes to wear for the day ahead. The past battle took every inch of Ella's strength away for a couple days but it wasn't something she'd experienced for the first time however. Her body was much too familiar to pain such as this.

Finally managing to pick something suitable from within the wardrobe, Ella began to undress and place the clean clothing onto her bruised body before closing the doors and walking towards the kitchen.

"Daddy!" A voice cheerfully shouted as Shepard looked to see a small blue figure running towards her.

"Hey my little blue princess" Ella replied cheerfully as not to show the pain on her face. "Wow you look amazing!" She answered as she looked to her little 5 year old daughter Lilly wearing her fathers rather large hoodie to which near enough buried little Lilly but she found it funny none the less. Little Lilly giggled at her father as she placed her arms around Ella's neck to hug her.

"Well good morning to you too" came another voice from inside the kitchen. A voice which Ella knew so well and yet somehow managed to fall for all those years ago. Looking up, Ella's smile grew more as she looked upon her other blue beauty in her life; her wife Liara T'Soni. Placing down little Lilly, Ella walked over and placed a gentle but needing kiss on her lovers lips to which Liara gave into.

"I thought I would make you breakfast in bed since you looked like you needed the sleep" Liara muttered as she pulled away from their embrace and walking back to check on the food.

"It smells great Liara. I know it will be great" added Shepard as she took a seat at the table, waiting for her food. "And thank you for leaving me there. I guess I really did need the sleep after all."

"You were tossing and turning all night. The least I could do after seeing you finally settle was to leave you."

Liara began to plate up the food and placed a dish in front of Ella. Shepard picked up her fork and dug in, nodding in agreement to her own statement. "This is great, Liara."

Meanwhile, in the back room Lilly was busy playing with her toys that her mother and father both bought for her when they had news of her arrival into the world. That little blue ball of happiness was the only thing both Liara and Shepard bought fought for and swore to protect. If they lost her.. They were sure to loose themselves in the process. Their daughter meant everything to them. If it meant giving up everything just to see her protected and unharmed then so be it.

Every day was a blessing for Shepard as she looked upon her family and how things would have been if she wouldn't have been found within the rubble on the Citadel. Every breath she took was something to cherish. Every smile was something to remember.
