Chapter 1

Let the Journey Begin!

As I, Odarb, entered the world of RuneScape, I was unaware of what was ahead of me. If I would have only known the sites and scenes that would unfold before me, I would have never accepted this challenge. But being a curious man I pressed on. My goal was to get to Lumbridge, which seemed so very far away from where I started. It took me what seemed like weeks to get there. Along the way, became bored with the humdrum pace of putting one foot in front of the other. So I decided to practice my sword fighting ability on a few gnomes and trolls. Defeating them definitely helped my sword wielding abilities. However, the main reason for my journey was to find the cook in Lumbridge Castle. The reason I was seeking out the cook was to go on a quest for him. I was not sure what the quest demanded, but I knew that I had to help the cook. The god of Sakai had informed me in my sleep one night that I was to fulfill take on this journey and see it through to fruition. After getting lost many times, I think I had a faulty compass, I finally made into Lumbridge. And after perusing around, talking to a few people, killing a few more trolls, and getting some dinner, I finally found the castle and made my way to the kitchen. I remember entering the castle thinking how there really was not much protection or security. I mean now one challenged me as I entered the castle and looked around for the cook. The community of Lumbridge must be very trusting of its people, and strangers. As I followed my nose, which is great at sniffing out meat, I found the cook slaving away in the kitchen. Upon introducing myself as Odarb the cook barely noticed me except with small grunt and with the nod of his head. I wasn't sure what that meant, so I told him why I was there. After telling him how the god of Sakai told me to find him and that I was to help him, the cook looked up, smiled and informed that he had a great quest that would be perfect for me. The cook then informed me that I had to grocery shopping for him and that each thing on the list needed to be exact and there could be no substitute. He said these ingredients were going to make the king and queens special dinner and that it was of the utmost importance for everything to be correct. Upon hearing this, I thought to myself, "Really! The Sakai god wants me to grocery shopping so the cook can prepare a proper meal for upper echelon of Lumbridge. I'd rather go kill some more trolls." But in fear of making the Sakai god mad, I respectfully agreed to take on the quest.

More to come in Chapter 2: The Specific Grocery List: The Journey I didn't expect.
