Father Gave Up, but Daddy Will Come
"Daddy will come and take us home. And I'll get better. I'll get better."
-River; Safe-
Father gave up. Simon hates him for it, hates that he wouldn't come after me, wouldn't help save me. Simon did it all himself, and he resents Father for turning his back, for pushing us away. I want to tell Simon that it wasn't Father's fault, but Simon won't listen. He'll blame the Alliance, what they did to me, that they confused me. He'll say that it was Father's fault.
But it wasn't. He couldn't help, he was scared; scared by the Alliance, scared by knowledge. People say that knowledge is power, but Father didn't want that knowledge. If he knew what was being done to me, to us, he couldn't blame the Alliance. He couldn't say it wasn't his fault, couldn't say he didn't know. With the ignorance, he is free to live his rich life and not question things.
Daddy questions things. Daddy questions the Alliance, he questions Simon, and he questions me. Daddy uses the answers to those questions to find more questions, more reasons to fight the Alliance, more reasons to continue the long ended war. I am one of those reasons.
That's how I know that Daddy will come and save us, take us home. I started out as an excuse, a reason to avoid the Alliance at any cost, another on a long list of reasons to hate them. But now I, we, Simon and I, we're much more. We are members of Daddy's crew, and he will not let us go.
Daddy will come and take us home.
