When Good Isn't Good Enough

Chapter 1

Aria couldn't believe she was doing this as she sipped her tea and looked at the therapist that was in front of her. It had been about a year since Aria had found Ezra cheating on her and they had been separated ever since, but Ezra had just came to her the other saying how much he missed her and wanted to make it worse and for some reason she had agreed. Why had she agreed? After all it had been a year since they had broken up their marriage. They hadn't divorced but every time she tried she just couldn't bring herself to do it, because their marriage meant more to her than it ever did to him.

"So Aria you go first, I usually start out by asking what you two love about each other."

Aria pondered that question. She knew what she loved about the old Ezra, but it was like she didn't know this new one. What could she say?

"Honestly, he's a whole new person than I thought he was. I used to love everything about him. I used to love the way he woke me up in the morning, and the way he cooked for me, and the way he did the little things for me without even asking to. And somewhere along the way he stopped doing those things and I stopped doing the things that he loved. And than he strayed away to someone else named Nicole and I was devastated."

"Do you have anything you love about him now?"

"Love, no. I respect him for wanting to try again, but I don't love him for it."

The therapist nodded and wrote that down in her notepad. She always hated when therapist did that instead of treating them as if they were real people.

"What about you Ezra, what do you love about Aria?"

"I love everything about her. I love the way she cooks and the way she can capture a moment on a picture. I love her taste in music and in literature. I just love everything about her."

The therapist nodded and wrote that down. She had no idea why he wasn't telling their therapist the truth.

"Okay so we have one person who doesn't love the other and the other one who loves the other too much. Okay. It looks like we have a lot of work to do."
