The rumour started when George Taylor, a sixth-former, noticed his strange classmate, Charlie Smith, walking into his house. Now, this wouldn't have been unusual under normal circumstances but considering the fact that Miss Quill had entered that very house fifteen minutes ago (and could still be seen through the blinds) it was very concerning.
George ended up staying at his post for a further five minutes (in which Miss Quill and Charlie seemed to be engaging in a particularly sarcastic conversation) before deciding that this was almost like stalking and his friend really should be here by now.
He was just pointing out their fellow student and their physics teacher to his friend when Matteusz whatever-his-last-name-is came down the street and, also, entered the house. Through the window they could see Charlie stop his glaring and leaning up to kiss his boyfriend.
Even with her back turned they could tell Miss Quill was rolling her eyes.
Needless to say, the rumour had been heard by just about everyone in the school by lunch time.
Despite the fact that no one was trying to hide the fact that they were talking about the rumour the people involved in the rumour had no clue that it existed.
A week later George Taylor and his best mate, Robert Brown, decided to play detective. It was a trying task but they did manage to follow Miss Quill to her house with only slightly suspicious looks pointing in their direction.
Maybe it was the ski masks…
This time they filmed her going into the house and kept filming until Charlie and Matteusz made their way through the door.
When Robert turned his phone to focus on the window Miss Quill brought the blind down with a shady look on her face.
Whatever they were doing in there was quite obviously illegal.
For the next week the video circled around the school. Now that people had proof of the living arrangement they were slightly worried; Miss Quill didn't seem to like Charlie very much.
It was Matteusz that found out about the rumour first.
He had been walking down one of the school corridors when someone dropped the phone that had been used to film them. Being the pure cinnamon roll that he was he picked it up and was about to hand it back when he noticed the footage of Charlie and himself entering their house.
Having found Charlie and Miss Quill's suspicious glances out of the window funny he decided to pretend he hadn't seen it.
Miss Quill peeked through the blind.
"They're here again. I think it may be the start of an invasion; there are five this time." She said in annoyance.
Charlie stood up (but not before glancing worriedly at Matteusz, who was holding back a laugh) and crossed the room. He looked through just in time to see another five appear.
"It seems that you are correct." He muttered.
Miss Quill smirked "I wonder if they'll still want to invade Earth when I'm done with them."
Everyone at Coal Hill was in an unspoken agreement that the shady living situation really was none of their business the next day.
