Alfred paced back and forth in front of Arthur's door. He had come here at 12:25 in hopes of proclaiming his undying love for Arthur. They had been dating for a while now and Alfred thought it was about time some one said something. He had been thinking a whole lot on this issue tonight for some unknown reason, and now at this ungodly hour of the night, he decided his true feelings needed to be heard.
He turned and stared at the doorbell. His finger hovered over it in hesitation. What if Arthur didn't feel the same? The thought of Arthur not loving Alfred back almost gave him a heart attack. He would be devastated if the wonderful Brit didn't reciprocate the feelings the American held.
Alfred decided to ring the door bell. He held down the button shortly and just once. After waiting a few minutes there was no answer. "I knew this was a bad idea. It's almost one in the morning. He's probably asleep and he'd probably kill me for waking him up." Alfred was at a loss. He rang the doorbell again in hopes of getting an answer.
"What the hell are you doing here at one in the morning?" Arthur asked as he swung the door open abruptly. Arthur was in a bathrobe, his hair a mess, and mint green bunny slippers on his feet. " Oh, hello Artie. I came to tell you somethin'." Alfred said as if he were surprised to find Arthur at his own house. "Can it wait? I mean it's one in the morning for Christ's sake. It simply cannot be that important," said Arthur crossing his arms in distaste.
"It can't wait. I've gotta tell you now," whined Alfred. Arthur clicked his tongue. "Then get to it. I am waiting." Arthur was annoyed and wanted to get back to sleep as soon as possible.
Alfred took in a deep breath. "Alright. Arthur Kirkland, I love you. I think I've loved you since the moment I set eyes on you. I never really believed in love or anything, I thought it was just something out of a children's story, but then I met you. You came in and blew me away. I've been thinking about the perfect time to say this, maybe just a little too hard. So here I am Arthur, this isn't perfect in any way, but I love you."
Arthur's eyes widened in surprise. He wasn't expecting a proclamation of love from his significant other, especially at this hour. It all seemed a little crazy. "W-what? I think I must be dreaming," laughed Arthur blushing a tiny bit. "You aren't dreaming." Alfred breathed as he moved closer to Arthur. Alfred hoped he said all the right things.
"Why are you telling me this now? Don't you think it's crazy?" Arthur asked confused. "It is a bit crazy, but it's the way I feel. I always talk to Matt about my feelings and he told me that I am infatuated with you. I realized that it may come across as just simple infatuation, but it's not, it's love." He finished his statement by wrapping his arms around Arthur's waist and pulling him in for a kiss.
Arthur pulled away and walked back into his house. He stood by the door and said, "Alfred, I love you too. You must understand though, I have to go to sleep now. I will see you in the morning. Goodbye."
Alfred's eyes lit up and a smile stretched across his face. Arthur actually loved him back. "YES!" He yelled as he punched the air. On the other side of the door Arthur was laughing to himself as he leaned against the door. Yes, he loved Alfred, but he sure was crazy.
