A/N: My first attempt at a Bones fanfiction. English is not my native language so please be kind. Takes place at the end of 1x19 The Man In The Morgue. Booth comes back to Brennan after everyone else left. Have fun. - Seeley Booth-
Bones sat in the quietness of her office and looked at her mother's earring that Booth had just given her back. Angela had asked her if that proved something and all Temperance said was that it did. But what exactly was beyond her. It had been evidence and he had disposed it knowingly from a crime scene and that meant, that it could've cost him his career if ever found out. Or worse, he could've gone to jail because of it. Totally lost in thought she didn't hear someone approaching the door to her office which was wide open.
"Want company?" a very well known male voice asked and Bones raised her head only to find Booth standing in the doorway.
"Booth." closing her hand around the earring Temperance stood up, watching the F.B.I. agent intently.
"What are you doing here?" but instead of an answer all she got was a shrug of his broad shoulders.
"Thought you might want company. Where are the others?" Booth strolled over to the armchair opposite of the couch Brennan had sat on and settled into it.
"I sent them home about an hour ago." puzzled Bones took a seat herself and folded her arms over her chest. They sat in silence for a while and Bones didn't know what to think of it. Just as she was about to say something Booth forestalled her.
"So…what about your voodoo mumbo jambo? Head's clear?" since the time in New Orleans Booth wasn't so sure anymore if things like voodoo really didn't exist or not. At least the days there had left him thinking and consider it possible.
"I told you I'm not under a spell. Spells don't exist. They're just weak attempts to try explaining things one doesn't understand." the forensic anthropologist told him and got up from the couch to walk over to her desk.
"Still, I don't know, Bones." Booth conceded watching every move she made.
"There's nothing to know, Booth. I told you before that such things as magic don't exist, neither do spells. Can we just drop it, now?" she took a breath and exhaled slowly to calm herself somewhat down.
"Besides…you're catholic. You don't believe in Voodoo." Temperance stated and raised one brow while looking expectantly at Booth.
"Yeah, well, maybe I am catholic. But that doesn't mean that I can't consider such things as Voodoo possible, does it? Since you told me that Voodoo is a religion in the first place." With that Booth grinned at Brennan widely and made his way to the door.
"Just give it a try, Bones. Just TRY to consider it possible. Even though you don't believe in anything but science." just before he could leave the office Temperance called him.
"Booth?"
"Yeah?"
"Why did you do it?" she had to know why he put his career on the line just because he believed she was innocent and didn't murder Graham.
"I told you, Bones. It's all a question of belief. Some things can't be explained with science and anthropological rambling." still grinning he winked at her getting ready to leave again.
"Thank you, Booth." she simply said looking down at her shoes which seemed to become very interesting all of a sudden.
"You're welcome, Temperance. You're very welcome."
When Temperance looked up because Booth used her given name he was already gone.
