Jace felt Clary's hands slide over his broad shoulders and clasp on. The wailing of the police siren and loud voices of the gathering crowd filled the air, as red, blue, and white lights flashed across them. Her face was delicate and soft, the light highlighting each of her features. He looked upon her beautiful cheekbones and the hair that fell upon her face like feathers. He felt his breath catch in his throat as he had an unquenchable desire to feel her soft lips against his. Shaking his head, Jace focussed on the task at hand.

He continued to walk forward, farther away from the danger as possible. He needed to protect her and save her, he needed to be near her; he needed to have her around for much longer. He remembered the first time he had ever seen her or, in her case, she had seen him. He scolded himself for his bad habit of acting like a jerk whenever he caught himself feeling human feelings.

But god dammit she's beautiful, thought Jace as he looked down upon her. They had walked far enough away from the site of the attack that darkness was their only companion. He knew that if he didn't hurry, she could easily die. But he wished she didn't have poison coursing through her veins and that she was conscious. Perhaps they could sit down against a wall and he could feel her hair in her fingers. He could touch he fragile skin delicately and feel her lips against his own. He wanted to sit and entwine his body with hers, feel her soft skin against his own. Instead, her surged forward towards the Institute.

Hi! So, I just started reading The City of Bones and I haven't finished it but I sense a little bit of a love connection between them, perhaps? This was just a one-shot sort of thing. I don't own anything. Please review and if you could or haven't yet, go read and review my other stories. Sorry if I got some details wrong- again, I haven't finished the first book so….

Thanks
