A small figure was sat in the dimly lit room. Several candles were scattered around, each tiny flame flickering in the soft breeze that was flowing through an open window. Soft, but eerie, music played hauntingly in the background, reflecting the mood radiating from the young girl whose gaze was fixed intently on the small beads of light. She fingered a gold crucifix that hung on a delicate chain around her neck as she closed her eyes, silently praying.
Her head shot up as the old wooden floorboards creaked, signaling the presence of another person in the room. As she saw who it was she let her head drop again, her blonde curls falling across her face, hiding her heartbroken expression. Her heart was beating faster as his presence sent nerves throughout her body, filling her with emotions.
"Just say it. You know you want to."
He walked forward, kneeling in front of her, lifting her chin so that his soft grey eyes were staring straight into her icy blue ones.
"I love you girl. I don't want to hurt you again."
Defiantly, the girl shook her head from his gaze, standing up as quickly as the old chair and he lack of space between them would her. Her heart was burning with passion but her eyes showed a form of heartbroken love. Of a love that can never be?
Turning, she walked to the door, her heels clicking on the old floor. She blew out the candle by the window, silvery moonlight covering her porcelain skin, making her look almost like a ghost or something that wasn't actually there.
"I'm finished." She looked directly at him, her passionate and defiant eyes burning into his hurt and innocent grey ones. "I'm done listening to your promises."
And with that, Jude Harrison walked out, leaving Tom Quincy alone in the room.
