"Have I told you a lie?" His voice is shocked, laced with disappointment and fear. "I brought you here. I risked my own safety to help you. The compass is in your hand, why do this to me now?"
"I can't take a chance that I'm wrong about you," Emma admits, and it's true, she wants to believe that he wants to be on her side, not Cora's. "I'm sorry-"
"You're sorry?" his voice rises to a yell, "You're sorry!? I got you here, I got you the compass-"
"I got the compass."
"You're just gonna leave me here to die?" he asks, the anger is gone, replaced by fear. "Allow that beast to eat me, to crush my bones?"
"He's not a beast," she says, "and you're not gonna die." She had made sure of it, the giant promised to release Hook in a few hours. "I just need a head start that's all." She turns and starts walking away.
"Swan?" he calls after her. "Swan!"
She keeps walking, a few more yards and she'll be out of the room.
"SWAN!" the last gut-wrenching cry, filled such desperation and hurt and fear makes her turn.
He looks at her panting, his eyes open and honest.
"Please."
And she's running back to him.
"Promise me," she says breathlessly, looking straight into his eyes, "Promise me that you won't go back to Cora."
"I promise," he says.
"How can I believe you?" She asks desperately, "How can I know you're telling the truth?"
"Do you think I'm lying?"
"No, but-"
"Then trust yourself, or better yet trust me."
There's silence as Emma searches his face for any sign that he's being untrue, but there's none. "Okay," she says, "I trust you." And she unlocks the chain.
He offers her his hand again and she takes it, but this time she doesn't let it go.
