Simple Times, Lazy Days
-
Sometimes it was just the simple things, the habits and routines that kept life sane, normal, and comfortable. Living a life full of mysteries, poisons and Earldom. It was those lazy days sitting in the parlor, listening to MaryWeather play the piano. Riff standing in his place as my manservant at my side, myself drinking the tea he prepared for me.
Mary's notes weren't always perfect, correcting her while keeping her playing, knowing how much she detested the instrument. Laughing into my teacup, I share a glance with Riff. I dare to do so, in those simple days, who would reprimand us?
Surly no one in this room.
After another wrong note, MaryWeather stood abruptly, knocking the bench to its side. Glaring at the offending instrument her arms crossed before huffing, turning and leaving the room. I laugh again into my teacup.
Still I enjoy the times shared the three of us, the simple times, the lazy days.

Night falls on the lazy days, spent in the company of those I care for. Restless, and wanting I wait knowing who was no coming to me, only on these days. Riff entered after he knocked, twice.
"My Lord Cain," he bowed and closed the door. Riff almost never exits the role as my manservant, even if we are alone. I am dressed in a simple robe loosely tied kneeling on my bed. I gaze into Riff's eyes and he mine. I do not break eye contact even as he moves closer, as he undresses. Only on these days do we dare, defying all laws of God and man. Still gazing into his eyes, running my hands up and down his bare chest. Him kissing me, his tongue in my mouth. Him holding me, loving me.
I would dare again, and again, and again…but only on these days with no mysteries to solve, no persons to help, or hinder. Only on these days, these simple times, these lazy days, do we defy God and man in a love so all consuming, full of passion, that even to acknowledge is to resign to hell, where we would burn, but at least we would burn together.
