This is actually a request that KiddLogik asked me to do quite a while ago. I told him that I needed to finish Smoothing the Rough Edges first, and now I've finally stopped procrastinating, and wrote it! :D I'd first like to warn you that I suck at poetry. So if you were expecting this deep, awesome, well-written piece, I'd be prepared to be disappointed. That's just my opinion, but I'm pretty sure it's true...Leave feedback though! You all get a free cookie if you do! :P I'd also like to recommend KiddLogik to you. He's a great author. :) And without further ado, on with the poem!

7/2/2011 EDIT: I forgot to mention this when I first posted the story, but I got the idea for this from the movie "Despicable Me" and the twelfth stanza is a line from the movie. I also had to remove the story and re-upload it. Heheh, you can tell I'm new with things. :)

You knew he was special from the very start.

The fierce determination in his eyes made you certain he would achieve a great many things.

Even now, as you look back on it, he was faithful, challenge after challenge.

Why did you do it?

It started out innocent.

Shy looks and small smiles.

Brief touches and painted blushes.

Why did you do it?

Then you decided that you couldn't take it anymore.

You confronted him; demanded his affections.

And he accepted.

Why did you do it?

For a time, your love was safe from unwanted attention.

For a time, you lived with an exhilarating secret.

For a time, you were happy.

Why did you do it?

Then one day, your captain found you stashed behind supply crates.

He said nothing; though the look in his gaze made you certain he wouldn't accept heartbreak.

He supported you; helped you make the right decisions when times were tough.

Why did you do it?

Word eventually leaked out that you two were lovers.

Shock spread and left as quickly as it had come.

You were grateful, not wanting to be judged for your actions.

Why did you do it?

One day, the two of you fought.

He called you uncaring, and you called him worthless.

He walked away from you that day.

Why did you do it?

He never came back.

Even when you expected him to, he never returned to your quarters.

For weeks, he only spoke to you when necessary.

Why did you do it?

You finally cornered him and commanded that he tell you what was wrong.

Of course he told you; he told you everything.

Or so it seemed.

Why did you do it?

He said that you shattered his heart.

That he would never trust you again.

That you both needed to move on.

Why did you do it?

You realize even now, what a mistake you made in giving him up.

He drew you away from the tempting knife that lay in your pocket.

He cured the insanity that ruptured your soul.

Why did you do it?

He made you laugh.

He made you cry.

You never should have said goodbye.

Why did you do it?

Now, as you both sit planted on the ground, you realize that he made you complete.

You shouldn't have let him go.

You shouldn't have called him worthless.

Why did you do it?

Both of your breathing is ragged as you await your upcoming death.

The gunshots in your chest make you want to scream both in frustration and agony.

And just as your mind decides to shut down, you hear him whisper one last thing to you.

Why did you do it?

"I love you," he whispers.

You want to reply, but you're already drifting off.

It doesn't matter; he'll be with you soon, and then you can tell him how much you love him back.

You're forgiven.

Now, if you haven't already gathered, this is Ghost/Roach. My idea was that Ghost and Roach fell in love, and then the whole base found out. Then they got into a huge fight and broke apart. Then Roach decided that he couldn't trust Ghost anymore, but at the end of Loose Ends, he finds it in himself to forgive him. :) Hope you enjoyed! Review please, and tell me how I did!
