Where's the Line?
Her
--
"What are you doing?" His voice startled her, it had been awhile since she had heard it, and the last time she heard here was a memorable event to say the least.
"Thinking." Kairi replied.
"About?" He nudged, more like pushed, he was always stubborn that way, or at least he seemed that way, it was hard to tell with sometimes, the way he hid behind his arrogant smirk.
"About-" Should she tell him that she's thinking about love? How she's not quite sure that she cares about Sora, like she's supposed too? That she was thinking about him and how he kidnapped her, and how even though she kicked and screamed to be released from her hostage situation she enjoyed his company.
"-stuff." She finished lamely.
"That was vague." Axel points out with amusement.
"I know, I just don't know what to tell you." Kairi says with a shrug; Axel leans against the trunk of the tree she was sitting on, it had been so long since he had been here with her, back when she was so sure about things she isn't exactly sure about now.
"You can just say it you know. You don't need to use pretty words with me, I probably wouldn't appreciate it anyway." Axel points out to her bluntly.
Him
--
She had the strangest look on her face when he walked up behind her, it was so confused and for some reason that made him curious, what could confuse the Princess of Heart? The girl who had it all? It didn't make much sense to him, but thinking about it, most things that she did didn't make sense to him.
"I was thinking about love and compassion." She answers slowly.
"I see when you think you go all out." Axel says with a chuckle.
"I mean, where's the line between full passionate love and dutiful compassion?" She asks seeming not to have heard him, which didn't surprise him it seemed that this weighed heavily on her mind.
"Right here." He says as he draws a line in the sand between him and her.
"Which side is which?" Kairi asks.
"I don't know, I just-" Axel pause for a moment digesting the truth.
"-wanted to make you feel better."
Them
-- --
He wanted to make her feel better? She hadn't expected that she thought that what she felt of one sided and delusional.
Axel looked at her as she stared at him, a look of pleased shock on her face. He felt a smirk on his face at the realization that he had won, what he won he wasn't so sure yet.
"I know." Kairi whispers before crossing the line and closing the space between them, and resting her head against his crest and breathing deeply. Axel held slightly confused but oddly pleased himself.
"This isn't dutifully compassion is it?" Axle asks, Kairi looks at him like he had just grown a second head.
"I was joking."
