Edward Tries Out for American Idol

By Bella and Alice

"I think you should try out for American Idol, Edward," Bella Swan grinned enthusiastically at her fiancée, Edward Cullen.

"Why on earth would I try out for a petty, human contest that I could win without effort?" He sighed.

"Because you'd win!"

"Your point, please?"

"Oh, forget it, Edward. Don't you say another word about me being stubborn."

Edward couldn't stand to see Bella upset, so he gave in.

"Fine, I'll audition when they come to Seattle. I promise."

"Oh! Edward!" Alice, Edward's sister, walked into the family room just then, "You will win!"

"See, I told you!" Bella laughed.

"I already knew I would," Edward chuckled.

"Oh, be quiet, for now. Let's go see when they're coming to Seattle," Bella pulled Edward towards his room.

A month later…

Edward came out of the audition room, looked into the camera, took Bella's hand and said, "I'm going to Hollywood."

Bella and Alice jumped up and squealed.

"I knew you would!" Alice grinned.

"Only because I told you," Edward laughed.

"No," Alice smiled, "You said you knew you would win, I knew that you would make it to Hollywood."

"Burn," Bella chuckled.

"Hilarious," Edward said as they walked toward the elevator.

The next few months of American Idol were astounding. Edward stole the show every week, never letting someone else up stage him. He was never in the bottom two and he never missed a note. Finally, the night of the final two came. David Archuletta, who had come in 10th place in season 7, and Edward were both ready to win. David went first, singing a duet with Kelly Clarkson.

"It was extremely enjoyable," Simon sighed.

"It was hot, in it's own kinda way," Randy commented.

"I liked it," Paula smiled.

"Thanks," David muttered.

Edward came on to the stage.

"Tonight I will be singing with the one and only, Celine Dion," He said over the screams and cheers.

The crowd began chanting, Cullen bites back! Cullen bites back!

The phrase had come from the incident when Ryan Seacrest and David Archuletta had made fun of Edward's performance on The Today Show. Not four hours after, Edward did a song that David had done and got a better review than David had gotten. So, the phrase stuck. All of the Cullens and Bella laughed at the irony of it every week.

Edward and Celine sang; the crowd went wild. After a 30 minute standing ovation, Celine bowed and exited the stage.

"Edward, if I'm being honest, in my opinion, you out sang Celine," Simon said as the crowd screamed some more.

"I couldn't agree more, dude, it was hotter than hot," Randy grinned.

"Edward, you've got some real talent. I think we all know who's going to win season 8," Paula joined in with the crowds' cheers.

"Thank you," Edward sighed.

The votes were finally tallied…

"And, the winner of American Idol season 8 is," Ryan paused.

You won, right? Alice thought.

Edward nodded subtly.

"The winner is…Edward Cullen!" Ryan yelled.

Edward smiled and shook hands with David.

"No! I was supposed to win! How could America do this to me? It's not fair!" David whined as he was escorted off the stage.

That night…

"Never again, Alice," Edward said sternly, "Never."

"But you and Bella still have to do So You Think You Can Dance!" Alice whined.

Edward and Bella both laughed now.

"Funny," They said in unison.

"Oh, fine," Alice grumbled, "Deal Or No Deal then."

Edward rolled his eyes, "Fabulous."
