Turn Back:

By Ember

-

-

The rusty streets that coloured blurs tread,

The paths that I alone have beaten,

My song of freedom comes in the form,

Of a thousand thunderclaps rolling on the wind.

-

My heart says leave, and my mind says stay,

But it's hard to ignore the silent sound,

Of a thousand footfalls that have defined,

And made me who I am.

-

I can only run from my past,

But all that I have made cannot be erased,

And you can't ignore the silence,

You can't be soundless forever.

-

And the wind that blows of sorrow and love,

It cannot be captured or imprisoned,

For as long as it has something to run from,

It will run away and hide from me.

-

The dirty ground is singing to me,

It begs me to follow it to life's end,

And I can't turn back,

But what I have made binds me.

-

I will never turn back, but I have beaten paths that will live forever,

Paths that I will run on forever regardless of will,

Paths that cannot be ignored forever…never.

-

To change the future,

I must

Turn back.
