Chapter 1: Pictures

Ethan was stressed out, he was sitting in the waiting room of a hospital as his fellow Spetznaz went through the hospital they were taking for the purpose of setting up a comm disruptor.

Ethan was a middle-aged man with a balding head and a creased face from years of service. His eyes were a weary green from a large amount of stress put on him by his superiors. He took out his wallet that he held pictures of his family. He lowered his facemask and smiled at a picture of his little girl playing in the backyard while he held a camera. He remembered that day well:

~~~~~~~Flashback~~~~~~~
"C'mon daddy! Come play with me!" A little girl said as she ran back and forth across a field, trying in vain to catch a Greater large blue butterfly.
"Okay Sveta, just let me put the camera down," Ethan said, after having just taken a picture of his daughter playing.
"Honey, dinner will be ready in a few minutes!" A beautiful woman with auburn hair and alluring blue eyes called from the kitchen.
"Okay, my Lyubimyy (Loved one)," Ethan said as he ran over to his daughter and grabbed her by the waist, quickly spinning around with her in his arms.
Sveta laughed with joy as her father spun her around, glad to have the attention.
~~~~~~~Flashback End~~~~~~~

The laughter rung in his ears as he smiled at the memory. He nodded absentmindedly to his fellow brothers and sisters in arms as they walked through the room.

He was snapped to attention as he heard something thud onto the floor, he immediately jumped up, but it was too late, a plasma grenade detonated catching him in the blast, and covering him in superheated plasma, he was given a few seconds of agonizing pain before he died.

Men and women in Advent uniform quickly entered the room and checked for any survivors. They were immediately gunned down, and as the small contingent walked through the room towards the roof, no one noticed a small picture of a smiling little girl, burning by a corpse's side.

XCOM- Humanity Rising: Chapter 6

A.N. Short and to the point, as it's meant to be, these are just going to be short one-shots that I'll do alongside my main story and the 'collaboration' with Vantage77. This isn't hate towards his story and isn't meant to make you despise Tyler and his men for 'heartlessly killing someone' It's meant to show you that there are always two sides to a conflict, and not all enemies are cold heartless bastards, not everything is black and white. If you want more of this, then please say so in the comments, I won't know unless you tell me.
