Her Secret Precognition

Sometimes the others wondered if she as precognitive.
She was certainly intuitive, knowing things,
making careless comments that weren't so careless
or meaningless after all.
Comments they barely remembered, until something jogged
their memories and they saw the threads
stretching back into the past.

They learnt to pay attention
but even that had them at a loss: her words simply didn't make sense
until the aftermath – and perhaps they didn't need to either
but it was a mystery to the rest of them
nonetheless.
