So... I just recently started Seraph of the End and seriously, it's AMAZING. The animation and the music are just so perfect and go so well together.
Disclaimer: Seraph of the End does not belong to me. Because if it did, I wouldn't have made poor Mika a vampire.
Pain.
That was all he felt.
He stifled a groan as the sharp fangs dug deeper into his neck, allowing more crimson to flow. It hurt, so much. The stinging bite on the skin, the thick red liquid running down his neck, the occasional flicker of a warm moist tongue. He should be used to it already. This pain. He'd done this countless times before. Turning his head away, he closed his eyes. Don't shiver. Don't twitch. Don't show any signs of weakness.
After all, here, he was at the mercy of a vampire.
"Wha-?! You're going on an errand again? What are those vampire bastards making you do?!"
Mika laughed sheepishly, "Sorry sorry. It's easy enough work. I'll be back by tonight."
His body felt hot. Burning hot. Almost as if it was refusing, in its own way, to let the precious liquid flow away. His face was flushed but he knew that soon after, it would become a ghostly white, a stark contrast to the colour it was now. Maybe, he thought, if he moved his neck slightly to the left, it would lessen the pain.
Suddenly he felt the fangs pull back and he was met it's the looming face of Ferid Barthory.
"Oh? Do you want me to stop, Mika?"
Yuu huffed, "You'd better. If you're not then I'm gonna go wring a vampire's neck-"
A hand landed on top of his head, "-and not kill them. I told you already Yuu. You need to outsmart a vampire, not use strength."
Mika shook his head silently in response making the noble smile. It wasn't a friendly smile. It a vampire's smile. A lilting smile. The sort of smile that sent shivers racking through one's body.
"Good boy." And with those mocking words, he descended upon the wound again.
"Huh?! Why should I outsmart them? I'm strong enough to take them on on my own!" Yuu exclaimed, stomping his foot on the floor in frustration.
Mika sighed, "But Yuu, they have powers beyond us. It'll be impossible."
How long had it been? Hours? Minutes?
He felt his body slowly become weak. The heaviness in his head, the numbness in his arms, his barely moving legs. He wouldn't last much longer now. A slender hand slithered up, cupping his head in a fluid motion, keeping it held up.
"Now now Mika. I'm not finished yet."
A squeal from one of the younger children drifted up. "If we could escape, would you do it for..," Yuu paused, uncomfortable, "...Us?"
Mika's eyes widened, before a glowing grin broke out onto his face, "Of course! For our family I'll do anything."
A small smile lifted on Mika's face. In slow, deliberate motions, he relaxed his body, tilting his head so his neck was easier to access. He didn't shiver. He didn't twitch. Instead, he opened his eyes, pinning the vampire with a defiant stare.
Blue clashed with red. Both held, neither backing down. It was only a few seconds later that the red smiled, before turning away, in favour lowering, once more, onto the bloody bruise.
Mika gritted his teeth as the now familiar pain crawled across his neck. But he made no sound of protest. After all, this was little price for the reward to come.
I'll do anything.
Anything.
If it's for my family.
Well then, that was short, but I hope you liked it!
