Sora was always more than happy to stop by in Traverse Town, not only because of the peaceful atmosphere, but also because Leon and co were always ready to help him make his journey a tad bit easier. Aerith made the most delicious food, so that they wouldn't starve. Cid upgraded (and repaired) their Gummi Ship. Sometimes, Yuffie would put random stuff in one of his pockets that, no matter how random, always proved to be useful. Other times, Leon would – almost roughly – shove some Munny in his hands. It was these little things that made Sora feel like he was part of their family.

This time, they had all decided to gather in the Vacant House. Donald and Goofy had gone to the market with Aerith to help her get the ingredients needed for a feast, and Yuffie was helping Cid in his shop (knowing Yuffie, it was probably because she was forced to do so, not because she actually liked being there). So that left Sora alone with a rather intimidating-looking "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named-Squall", as Yuffie would call him.

The Keyblade's Chosen One had to admit that he was starting to get used to Leon's penetrating stare…kinda. It didn't feel like he was trying to bore holes in his face with his eyes alone. Still, Sora was pretty sure that the question that he was going to ask next would change everything.

Apparently, Leon could feel his hesitation, because he asked, "What is it, Sora?"

The timid boy gulped. "I-I was just wondering… how these potions work."

Leon raised a finely arched eyebrow, wondering if Sora knew how dense he was sounding. Of all the odd questions he'd ever asked, this one took the cake.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, it's weird, isn't it? I mean, you don't even have to drink it, or pour it on your wound. You just throw it high in the air and suddenly you're healed. What sense does that make?"

Leon blinked, surprised. He gave the Keybearer a long, hard stare, clearly at a loss of words. Now that he mentioned it, it was weird. The potion never made contact with their skin, yet all their wounds were cured mysteriously. There had to be some logical explanation for this. It couldn't be just magic, because at least magic made some sense; even if it usually ignored the law of physics, it was done in a sequacious way.

Eventually, he admitted, "I… have honestly no idea, Sora. I never noticed until now."

This earned the man a flabbergasted stare that clearly said, "You really haven't? Where the heck have you been for the past ten years!?"

"I'm sorry," Leon hastened to add, though he wasn't sure what for. After all, it wasn't his fault that the world wasn't making sense.

At once, Sora's goofy grin returned on his face. "Oh, that's okay, Leon. I'm sure we'll find out someday, right?"

"Yeah…"

Most likely not.
