"And that's the Muppet show! Goodnight! Aghghgh!"
Gonzo looked on from behind stage as the curtain fell and the crowd cheered. Kermit sure did know how to work a crowd. The crew filed backstage, congratulating each other on another great show, barely noticing Gonzo as they knocked past him.
"Wonderful show" Piggy said to everyone.
Now the last few people were shuffling out- the Swedish chef and the janitor. "I'm not cleaning that up" the janitor yelled at Gonzo as he tried to leave.
"Clormbi stuppen puddenmukken!" the Swedish chef cried back from the lot.
"Oh yeah, the pudding, right" he replied. Sigh, don't worry Harris, I'll get it off the wall.
"You'd better!"
Gonzo had never felt so alone as he did when he heard the door bolt, saw the lights slowly dim to a haze, and suddenly realized that he was the only one left in the building. For such a cheery place, it sure did exude gloom after hours.
"Well, better find that scraper, I guess" Gonzo said to himself as he started walking away.
Suddenly he heard a strange noise.
*Whoop whoop!*
"Camilla?"
It was coming from behind a curtain draped over some background props.
He slowly inched around it. "Rizzo, is this another prank?"
Gonzo stopped dead in his tracks. It was beautiful! When had Kermit ordered this prop? It was a large blue police box, which looked exactly like the one on his favorite show. Hmm, maybe the wall could wait. Gonzo excitedly walked over to a nearby rack and pulled down a long scarf and a brown fedora. He nodded at himself approvingly in the mirror as he confidently strode towards the large box. He paused for a brief moment at the door- it felt as if something exciting was actually happening to him. "Yeah right" Gonzo thought gloomily as he grasped at the door. He wondered if he would even fit.
"What do you want"?!
Gonzo lept back. There WAS someone in there.
It was dark inside, but he could see the soft glowing of orangey red lights around what looked like a console. How big of a budget did they have this season?
"Hello?" Gonzo called in."
"Crookbeak? Is that you? Oh thank goodness. Look, I need you." A shadowy silhouette said, stepping forward.
"What? Who's Crookbeak?... oh, me." Gonzo said as he peered into the darkness. "You know, we're kind of closed. I mean, I'm not going to call security or anything..."
"Look, I know you don't remember me yet, but we kind of know each other"
"Uncle Rodger?"
"No." The tall figure stepped into the light, and Gonzo nearly keeled over.
"YOU" Gonzo yelled, pointing at him.
"So you do remember me then"
"Of course I do, I'm your biggest fan!"
"fan?" a look of confusion and disappointment briefly flashed over the man's face. "Oh, yes. Of course."
"What are you DOING here?" Gonzo exclaimed. "You're not even supposed to exist!"
The man looked down and smiled wryly, hands in his long coat.
