Heero sat at the desk in his dorm room, staring blankly down at the open text book in front of him. The school work had become dull, but he knew now that he was no longer a solider, the knowledge would not be enough to go anywhere with life, he needed an actual degree to go with it. His eyes drifted from the book to the TV that was playing the news on mute. His gaze stayed there until the phone next to him rang. He pressed the speaker button.
"Odin Lowe."
The video screen flashed once before a familiar face appeared. "Hello, Heero."
Heero quickly turned on his end of the video line. "Quatre. How did you find me?"
Quatre smiled. "It wasn't easy. You cover you're tracks well. I finally had to have Duo do it."
Heero nodded. "What can I do for you, Quatre?"
"I figure you'd rather me get straight to the point. I need a new body guard. Just one, for when I don't need a whole group."
"I can't just drop everything to help you. I'm sorry."
"I'm not asking you to! The one I have now isn't leaving for another month and a half. And it's okay if you don't want to, I'm just asking." Heero could see the sincerity in his eyes.
"Why me, though?" Heero asked.
"Because, you're one of the few people I trust my life with. And you were an excellent body guard for Miss Relena, so I know you can do it."
"She was always on the move. You stay put a lot."
"When I'm stuck behind my desk, you won't be required to stay. The security at the WEI. You talked about continuing school after you finish secondary. You can go to classes or something during that time, if you wish."
Heero looked out the window. He had become bored with doing nothing but school work everyday. And if he was honest with himself, he was lonely, since making friends was no where near easy for him. Splitting up life between school and being with one of the few people he ever considered friends, appealed to him greatly.
"There's a month left in school. Can it wait that long?"
"Yes, of course," Quatre beamed.
"Then send me any information I'll need to this address," he typed something into the keyboard on the phone and sent it to Quatre.
"I can't thank you enough, Heero."
"Don't mention it." The connection was cut and Heero went back to staring at the silent TV.
