Annabeth slipped into her house at four thirty in the morning. She had been up all night talking with her boyfriend, Percy, and she had accidentally fallen asleep. Now she was sneaking into her own house.

She was about to walk up the stairs when she heard a voice from behind her.

"Why are you home so late?" her mother asked from the shadows.

She turned on the light and Annabeth saw her sitting on the couch, that disapproving look on her face.

"Where were you?" her mother asked before she could even formulate a response to that last question.

Annabeth had barely said, "I was at Perc-" when her mother burst out angrily.

"You were at a boy's house?!" Her voice rose in pitch and she stood up, her expression suddenly furious.

"Mom, it's nothing like that!" Annabeth shouted defensively. "I trained very hard at soccer practice that day, and I was tired, so I accidentally fell asleep on his couch when we were talking. He figured I could use the rest so he woke me up a few hours later. That's all."

"Don't give me that crap young lady!" Her mother yelled back, jabbing a finger at her.

"Why can't you just trust me?" Annabeth growled frustratedly, storming up the stairs to her room.

She slammed her door and jumped onto her bed, burying her head in her pillows. Her phone started ringing. She looked at the caller I.D. and smiled. She answered it.

"Hey Percy." She said happily.

"Hey, did your parents get mad at you?" Percy asked, his voice etched with concern.

"Yeah. I tried to explain to my mom that we didn't DO anything, but she doesn't believe me."

"Well, we both know that nothing happened, and isn't that all that matters?"

"yeah. I gue-" Annabeth started, when she was cut off when her dad walked in.

"What are you doing on the phone in the middle of the night?" He demanded. "What are you doing with your life?"

"Dad, it's nothing. Whatever mom told you isn't true." Annabeth pleaded.

"Hello? Annabeth?" Percy asked over the phone.

Her dad gave her a disappointed look. "How can I believe you?" He said sadly, walking away.

Annabeth sighed sadly. She went back to her phone. "Sorry. My dad came in." she apologized.

"You okay?" Percy asked

"Yeah. I just wish they wouldn't get all upset when I just… wanna have fun." She said sadly.
