It was a dark and stormy evening. Thunder crashed and rain was pouring down. As lighting flashed, I could see a creature with a mostly black body and a white head. The creature raised its arms up and I could see a shadowy sphere growing between its hands. "Ha ha! Now the end is near!" It yelled. I saw the creature begin to aim the sphere at a different creature, one I knew very well. This creature had a mostly green body and a tan chest.

"N-NO! Don't hurt him!" I yelled in horror.

"Too late Grovyle!" Yelled the black creature as it blasted the shadowy aura at Grovyle. For a single moment time seemed to slow and all that seemed to matter was protecting Grovyle, my one and only friend, from his near certain fate. In that moment I can somewhat remember jumping in front of the attack, getting the wind knocked out of me, and then... blackness.

Grovyle's POV

"NOOO!" I screamed in horror and pure shock as I saw my companion jump in front of me. 'Quick,' I thought, 'I have to get him away from this place (or time for that matter).'

"As for you!" I yelled toward Darkrai while charging up a massive green energy sphere. I would stop at nothing to avenge my partner. I hurled it at Darkrai and sent him flying back. I examined Darkrai, the Pokemon was out like a light. This gave me time to prepare.

For a moment I just stood there, shocked at what Riley, my companion, did for me. He sacrificed himself to save me. I walked over to Riley's body, fearing the worst, and found him alive, substantially wounded and unconscious, but alive. I cried a few tears of joy before noticing that his arm had turned mostly dark purple and the color was spreading slowly to most of his body. I would have immediately attempted to treat this, but I knew Darkrai could wake up at any second. So I picked up Riley and started proceeding towards the portal.

From behind me, I saw Darkrai get up slowly. He was charging up another attack! Just before the portal closed, I saw Darkrai release his attack and yell "You can run but the all mighty Darkrai and his army will catch you and your human friend!" Then, out of exhaustion, I believe I must've blacked out as well.
