This is where I'll be posting some basic Worm story ideas that aren't crossovers. Most of them will be one-shots, and a few of them (including Conductor's adventures) will be continued on just a bit, but I doubt I'll ever make a full story out of any of these. If anyone ever feels like continuing the story based on these ideas, feel free.
Leap...crunch. Leap...crunch. Leap...crunch. Leap...
Taylor soared through the air as she leapt from one building to the next, letting the impact from each landing fuel the next jump; not for the first time tonight, she marveled at how versatile her power was. Yes, apparently being bullied by your ex-best friend and her psycho bestie for 18 months before being shoved into a locker filled with used pads and tampons for several hours was enough to make you trigger. Unfortunately for Taylor, her power hadn't allowed her to escape the locker, for reasons she hadn't understood at the time. After being released from the hospital (and being paid off by the school not to discuss the locker incident), Taylor had gotten a week off from school to completely recover from the aftereffects of her ordeal; naturally, she ended up spending every moment she could testing her new abilities...at least, whenever her dad wasn't around to see. That wasn't a conversation she was ready to have quite yet.
As near as she could figure, her power let her absorb and store energy within some kind of mental vault, which she could then spend in various ways. Among other things, this gave her something similar to a Brute power: whenever something would've injured her, she just absorbed enough of its energy that it was effectively nullified. Unfortunately, hitting herself didn't seem to do anything at all, probably because the energy she was absorbing from the blow was off-set by the energy she put into delivering it. Still, she hadn't been able to discover any kind of upper limit on how much she could absorb at once, and the possibility of such a limit existing made her more than a bit nervous.
Beyond just absorbing the energy, she could spend it in ways besides just hitting things. For starters, she could enhance her body: expending energy let her move faster, lift more weight, or fix her body in various ways. Now, full on regeneration took far more energy than she was able to absorb by doing things around the house (she'd looked up equations on converting energy to mass, and it wasn't really feasible), but without being able to sustain injuries, that shouldn't be a problem; beyond that, rearraging parts of her body that already existed (like reshaping her eyes) didn't take anywhere near that much energy, although it was still incredibly difficult. Beyond enhancing her physical capabilities, Taylor had found that she could project blasts of energy in various forms (fire, electricity, and so on), although it was usually pretty weak since she couldn't collect much energy.
Given her limitations, she determined that her powers could be used for combat against other capes fairly well...and such a fight might even give her enough energy for the big stuff; sure, she might not need regeneration for herself, but giving it to anther person would be a fantastic way to help out. Thus began her journey to become a hero: as she began researching the various capes of the Brockton Bay area, she started creating her cape identity from the ground up. After coming up with the name "Conductor" (since Battery was already taken), she pieced together a workable costume: a pair of loose-fitting jeans, a dark hoodie, and an old Anonymous mask.
And that was the figure that set out into the city proper, intent on finding some criminals to bring to justice.
Well, that's it for now. I've got a bit more planned for the next part of Conductor's adventures (namely, an actual cape fight), but I just wanted to get this part out there for now. Please R constructive criticism only makes the stories better!
