Hey everyone. This story was written for both Bio-Sciences: Neurotransmitters and Back to School events on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I hope you all enjoy Quidditch Awards Night.
The flash of the cameras blinded him as he walked up to the steps of platform. He could hear reporters and photographers alike calling for his attention but Oliver Wood was only focused on getting to the stage proper without tripping himself.
The once head of the Division of Magical Games and Sports, Ludo Bagman, smiled at him as he held out the award for Most Daring Play in a Quidditch Game. The smile seemed to stretch the older man's features in a sinister way but Oliver had known Ludo over the years. He knew Ludo Bagman was a kind man who used play Quidditch himself.
"Here you are, Mr. Wood," Ludo Bagman called out as Oliver finally made his way to him.
"Thank you, Mr. Bagman," Oliver said as he took the award from the older man. Turning to address the rest of the assembled awardees and their families he smiled. "I'd like to thank the fans for this award. Without each and everyone of you there to cheer me on this wouldn't be possible." A couple of people who knew gave a whooping cheer. "I'd like to thank my old Hogwarts Quidditch team for providing me with the ways to come with plays like the one that won me this award." He looked out into the crowd and found the pair of eyes that he would never grow tired of looking at. Katie Bell's eyes. His girlfriend of about six months. "And most of all I'd like to thank Katie Bell for giving me the courage to even try this play." He blew her kiss hearing the cameras going as he did so. "Thank you so much everyone."
He walked back to his seat with the award in tow. Katie pulled him into a hug as the cameras went off all focused on them.
"Now then," came Bagman's voice. "Let's move on to the next award on our program. The Chaser of the Year."
Oliver shared a hopeful smile with his girlfriend as they turned their attention back to the front of the room. Hopefully they'd both be coming home with awards tonight.
I hope you all enjoyed Quidditch Awards Night.
