I hope he remembers me, Fly thought.

She saw him from the street, standing on the beach, running his hands through his hair. He looked bewildered, though it was hard to blame him as he was attempting to teach tourists how to stand up on a board. An easy task, by no means. She smiled as she noticed his new tattoo. Slowly she walked up to him, his back turned to her, wondering what to say. All too soon, he turned. She found herself speechless as he flashed her a surprised smile.

"Heath!..." Fly offered, not knowing what to say next.

As it so happened, she needn't have worried about trying to make conversation, as he quickly closed the space between them and gathered her up into his arms.

"What are you doing here?" Heath questioned.

"I wanted to co-" she tried to explain.

"Fly, whatever it is, I'm just glad you're back. I missed you" he mumbled, as he buried his head against her neck.

He... missed... me? Fly thought, her mind racing. She had been afraid he'd have moved on while she was away, but now she was shocked to hear he'd been thinking of her.

"Heath... I missed you, too." She had missed him, missed having him to confide in, but now she was feeling it had been more than that. He'd been her closest friend, but there was always that possibility of something more. She'd missed his ability to always know just what to say to make her feel better. She'd missed his dazzling smile, and the way that he'd always saved a cheeky grin just for her.

Do I... love him? She shook her head, as though shaking the thoughts out of her mind. No, we're just friends. I missed my friend, that's all.

"I mean... I missed joking around with you and... stuff" she continued feebly.

Heath looked at her, confused, but continuing to smile. Slowly, he loosened his grip on her, until he was standing before her, his hands still resting on her shoulders.

"I've got to get back to work," he told her, "but I'll see you up at Solar Blue this evening, right?"

"Sure," she replied, picking up her bag. "We wouldn't want any of those guys drowning out there 'coz their teacher wasn't doing his job!"

"Again..." he laughed, letting her know he was kidding.

With a wave, he ran back down the beach. She stood there watching for a moment, but quickly became aware that she was watching him. Colour rushing to her cheeks, she turned and headed for the Solar Blue house.

Seconds later her phone beeped, indicating a new text message. She pulled it from her pocket and smiled at the words on the screen.

Heath: I really am glad you're back, Fly xxx

She looked back at him to see him raise a hand in salute. Grinning she turned once more, and ran for the house, her face now the colour of a ripe tomato.

Stay calm, she told herself. Just breathe.
