The Inner Thoughts of the Golden Trio

By Phoenix1001

Summary: Let's take a look into the thoughts of our favourite Trio as they are faced with the challenges of looking for Horcruxes. Each chapter is a diary entry from one of the Trio. Book 7 AU. In response to the Calendar Challenge by Violent-Phoenix-Rose.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. He belongs to JK Rowling et al. Any resemblance to a person, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

Chapter Notes: This is the 1st of 12 chapters in my response to the Calendar Challenge. The chapter's prompt was "new" (Rx: news of Voldie's new regime) and quote: "I'm used to being alone - it's the only thing I can rely on these days."

Chapter One

A New Year's Bleakness (Harry)

1st January 1998

Dear Journal,

Well, here we go again. I am surprised that I, Harry James Potter, made it through another year without getting killed. Although, I may as well be dead for all the Wizarding World cares. Ever since Lord Voldemort took over the Ministry of Magic and started his "new regime", I have been exiled. Everyone seems to think that it is my fault that he took over, and they all blame me.

Now don't get me wrong: I'm used to being alone. It's the only thing I can rely on these days. Well, that, and having to move locations every day to keep from being turned into the Ministry. I can't even rely on my best friends anymore. Ron is susceptible to coercion by both Muggle and Magical means. Proof in point: he tried to turn me in to the Ministry the other day to collect the 10,000 galleon reward. I managed to disarm him and put him under Veritaserum, and it turns out his brother, Percy, had Imperio'd him at the wedding. I don't want him to do something while being controlled by someone else that he would regret later, and therefore, cannot rely on him.

Hermione is a whole other story. Being a Muggleborn, she is on the run from the Ministry as well, although not as high up on the Undesirable list as I am (one can't be higher than # 1 on Britian's Most Wanted, after all!). Also, she claimed to be loyal to our friendship and our mission, yet every day that went by that we didn't find a Horcrux meant another night of the bushy-haired witch's bitchiness. Finally, I couldn't stand her negativity and told her to either go to the Burrow and join Ron or go join her parents in Austrailia until the was is over.

I miss the company of the two of them. After all, we have been through so much together, but there is only so much crap a person can put up with before they snap. Anyhow, it is getting late, so I should probably put my stuff up and move while I have the cover of darkness. Adios for now, dear journal.

~Harry.
