Aggravation. Irritation. Anger in one of its purest forms. These feelings have been constantly swirling.
Around and around and around and around we go.
Then hopelessness begins to set in. A stranger reinds you of child like dreams that you are straining to grab, 's lmbut cannot because someone else is standing in the way. Someone who "use(s) their words as a weapon". A party crasher on your internal parade.
They are, in this classic story, your archetype villian. (Insert maniacal laughing here.) You, the unassuming protagonist, look at them and stare. Why would they ever do this to you? You haven't hurt Johnny's puppy, you never stepped on Susan's flowers. Yet Malificent decided to use her demons to wrap you in the coils of despair and anxiety.
Every person, dear protagonist, has a breaking point. You, though have fought the long, weary battle, have had enough. The chains are too heavy. Metaphorically throwing your hands in the air, you scream as loud as you can, "I have had enough." You don't care anymore. Nothing is worth the emotional pain you feel. All the while praying Mr. Evil is listening, hoping that he has derived enough enjoyment out of your torment for him to stop.
Where is this going, you may ask. As it is my job as the narrator of this story of knots and too strung out strings, I will tell you: apathy. Apathy, what Tocqueville says is the enemy of democracy, of individualism, you, the main character have gained it. You no longer feel because feeling gets you hurt. And you dear protagonist, have seemingly had enough wounds for an army. They are not noticeable. They are nicks, long scratches that cut deep and quick.
In some eyes, it may seem cowardly to resign from the battlefield. Friends, Romans, countrymen all look and roll the eyes and the generalities begin. Everyone has their own set of trials and tribulations to deal with. Just because you got hurt doesn't mean that you just stop fighting, right? Even if it seems like it was a barrage of a thousand knives over a long period of time, if it isn't that noticeable, why should they care?
And this dear reader, is where our story begins.
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy my intro. Quite a few things have happened recently and I decided it would be good to turn to an outlet. Please forgive the font differences. My computer has decided to take a trip to vist Alice, and have everthing topsy turvy. I do not own the literary and song references.
If you all are wondering who Tocqueville is, here is a little information. Alexis de Tocqueville was a French man who visited America in the mid 1800's. He originally to America to write about the penial systems for the goverment, who at the time, was in a state of turmoil. He ended up writing about democracy in America and what it thrives on. Check him out sometime :)
