A/N: A late Thanksgiving ficlet in Percy's POV. Enjoy.
"Hey, Ni-What in the name of the gods are you doing?"
The Italian boy strolled towards me casually, with his pitchfork-equipped skeleton warrior trailing behind him. "He's a pilgrim. Happy Thanksgiving, Percy." He shoved a plate at me. It had some turkey and mashed potatoes on it.
"...you celebrate Thanksgiving?"
Nico sighed, "Just take the food, Percy." He brightened up a little, "Hey, you wanna take some food to all the cabins with me?"
I blinked. "You do that?"
"I live on the streets, Percy. People need food. Thanksgiving is good. I actually like this holiday." He paused for a second, thinking. "Now you don't have a choice," he decided. "Come with me or my pilgrim friend here will crack you over the head with his rusty pitchfork."
"Nico-" I started, but he dragged me along to the Demeter cabin and knocked on the door.
Miranda Gardiner opened the door, and Nico smiled creepily. "Happy Thanksgiving." He gave her a platter and promptly walked off.
"Ummm...happy Thanksgiving, I guess," I said awkwardly, moving quickly away when the spartus pilgrim poked me in the back with the pitchfork.
Nico was already kicking the guy at the door in the balls and then tossing the platter to Clarisse when I got over to Cabin Five. "Happy Thanksgiving!" we called, Nico beckoning his skeleton to him.
Annabeth swung open the door as we reached her cabin. "Hi, Nico." She gave me a peck on the cheek. "Percy. Happy Thanksgiving."
Nico laughed at my face. "Like Annabeth didn't know I was giving out turkeys today. Happy Thanksgiving, Annabeth." For a second he seemed like the carefree kid like he used to be, when I'd first met him. Then he clicked his fingers at the spartus and the illusion disappeared.
We continued on to the other cabins. "Happy Thanksgiving," we greeted Will Solace, who spun the platter on the tip of his finger before responding,
"Happy Thanksgiving."
Nico dropped the turkey platter on the doorstep of Cabin Nine, and I watched in surprise as it disappeared under the porch floor to the sound of whirring machines. "Happy Thanksgiving!" Nico screamed at the hole as it closed up over the image of chainsaws underground.
When we got to the Aphrodite Cabin, Nico muttered, "Drew," and dropped the platter on the doorstep, yelling, "Happy Thanksgiving!" while we ran to the Hermes cabin.
Travis and Connor took our turkey and chucked a skull ring at Nico. "Here's your ring back."
Nico just grinned, waved at me, and shadow traveled away with ring in hand.
"Happy Thanksgiving!"
A/N:That was really weird. I should have written a Halloween fic earlier in the year. :( Oh well.
