Actually, I am not that into Death Note. I like the series but I would never have written a fanfic about it unless my friend had not urged me to do so. Since I am not that good in English I wrote it in German and she translated it after. I think she did a good job, and I hope it was worth her effort. To cut a long story short, please review after reading, and if you want to tell her personally about how marvellous her English translation is, she is listed in here as Adala. Thank you for reading

Oh, and since this seems to be obligatory: of course I have no rights considering "Death Note" whatsoever.

The Sugar Packet

"Would you pass me the sugar, please?"

Ryuuzaki expectantly extended his hand towards Light. Light didn't even look up as he reached for the ceramic mug and realised there was only one sugar packet left. With a glimpse on Ryuuzaki he covered the mug with his hand and sighed. "No."

Ryuuzaki stared with a petrified gaze at the sugar packet between Light's fingers.

"Don't you think you've had enough?"

Light's voice was calm as he slid the mug closer to himself. Ryuuzaki's gaze followed the mug. Nervously, he began knibbling on his thumb nail. Unfortunately, Light had used his uncuffed hand for the outrageous coup, so the master detective had no chance to impede it.

"Are you planning on killing me?" he asked, his gazed piercing the model student in front of him. Light laughed.

"No, of course not... I'd just like to have my coffee with some sugar too, for once. And you already had enough for an entire lifetime. Besides, you shouldn't eat it pure."

Ryuuzaki tilted his head as if he was pondering and then stated: "Maybe this is a new strategy to kill me."

Light looked up.

"A new strategy? Don't you think you're exaggerating? It's just a sugar packet. It's not like you don't have any left. Watari always buys them in bags..." "That's not the point. The chance of you being Kira just increased by 25 ." Light choked, so he had to cough.

"What?" he finally managed to say.
Ryuuzaki's index finger pointed accusingly at him. Had he planed on there being just one last sugar packet so they would have to face this scenario? When he thought about it thoroughly, the top detective could have reached for the sugar himself, sitting already close enough to the mug. But this accusation would be perceived as absolutely absurd.

"Here, take the sugar," Light said and slid the mug back to the centre of the table, "I'll get myself some later from Watari."
Ryuuzaki nodded.

"That won't save you, Light-kun," he said, but he took the sugar and let it pour down into his mouth. Hm, sweet! He couldn't help but smile to himself. Even if he could not prove it, the way Light reacted to his accusations of being Kira, the chance of him actually being the mass murderer was not as low as he always assured. Ryuuzaki secretly hoped that it would stay that way for a while. The kira argument never failed and he could make Light do just about everything he wanted. And as long as Light was not committing the murders himself, he would be glad for it to stay that way. Ryuuzaki comfortably settled back in his chair.

"I think, some ice-cream would be nice right now."
