His Everything

Summary: Ever Since the day he met her he thought of her as his… His world. His everything.

Disclaimer: I do not own Grey's Anatomy, nor do I profit from anything I write. This is purely for fun.

Even after all the time that has passed since that fateful night at Joe's, she could bring him to his knees with nothing more than a longing glance across a crowded room. He isn't sure if she even realizes the power she has over him and part of that is his fault. Ever since he took the interim chief position, he has noticed a change in their relationship primarily caused by a change in him. He was acting less like her McDreamy and more like a McAss. He chuckled lightly at the nicknames Christina and Meredith used for him. Then he cursed himself for starting to use them too.

Suddenly he was hit full force by what he had just called himself. McAss. It sounded so silly when he first said, but now it filled him with a sense of dread. The last time he had truly been McAss he was batting away her engagement ring. McAss was not a term of endearment.

His mind wandered back to that night, or at least what he could remember from that night. She had been trying so hard to fight the urge to run. She stood her ground and more importantly stood by him. And he hadn't even noticed. He called her a lemon and batted away her ring right in front of her. The memory of the flash of hurt that her eyes displayed that night still broke his heart. How could he do that to her? He hated McAss.

McAss didn't deserve her. McAss doesn't deserve her. More importantly she didn't deserve McAss. She deserved nothing short of everything and only McDreamy could give her that.

Derek quickly rose from behind his desk, grabbed his coat and walked out the door, leaving behind a fairly high stack of paperwork. Paperwork that can wait until tomorrow. It took every ounce of control he had not to run through the halls wanting nothing more than to be at home. Her home. Their home. He didn't even notice the people calling his name. Mark, Richard, or that annoying resident Kempner. They could wait. He couldn't. He needed her more than anything. His every thought was consumed by her.

He made a few quick stops. Tequila, Chinese take-out, and most importantly, strawberry ice cream. He was determined to lay McAss to rest tonight. He is after all, her Mcdreamy, her knight in shining whatever. He is hers just as she is his. His world. His everything.

A/N: I realize I have not posted anything on this site for years. I apologize for the two stories I have that are not finished. I intend to complete them at some point.

A/N 2: I couldn't help but call April annoying even though it is out of character for Derek. Oops...
