Summary: "Dissolve, magically, absurdly, they end - dissipate, slowly and strangely return." Julie's thoughts during the scene where her and Caleb 'talk'.
A/N: Consequently the song that inspired this (Those to Come, The Shins) is as far from Julie and Caleb as you can get, at least in my head - but that line got their scene from the last episode stuck in my head. I literally started with the line as the idea, and went from there.
As much as they denied it - their relationship wasn't supposed to be about love. They both had their own reasons, of course, and maybe there was attraction at the start - but it was hardly the foundations for marriage. Wealth. Security. Status. Power. Image. Money. You name it. There were dozens of more important issues at hand.
She knew this, all of this, as she looked into his eyes - the words divorce lingering on her lips, and undeniably in his thoughts. So why was she crying - searing hot tears that burned her skin? What was she doing?
Something she never thought was possible.
She was loving him.
Life was such a bitch sometimes.
