Author: Violette Poète
Summary : Annie wants to know what was going to happen. Set during Season 1.
Disclaimer: So, of course, the show isn't mine. Annie might be a little OOC, but I feel she's just like the type of people who would do anything to make her friends feel included into friendship, life and all that...
Prediction 101
-So… Shirley called you a witch the other day.
Annie and Abed were alone in the study room. The others, running late, hadn't arrived yet. Abed liked being early and Annie… Well, Annie was just wired that way.
-Yes. I seem to be able to predict what is going to happen to you.
-Really?
-Lately my predictions were less accurate actually.
Annie got up and went to sit on Britta's usual chair. The change troubled Abed and he looked at his friend. She asked.
-Why?
He looked in front of him. How could he explain? Words were never his strong suit, except if they were already written and said in a movie.
-You got involved.
He looked at her, stunned. Feeling (rightfully) that she was on to something, Annie continued.
-You started by watching us and as a student of human character, it was easy to predict what we were going to do in a given situation. But then, you became part of the show and couldn't say what was going to happen.
He remained still, speechless. He never thought Annie could understand. He never thought anyone could actually really understand.
-Am I right?
-Yes, you are. The more I am with you guys the less I can without a doubt make a prediction.
-It's too bad. I was wondering how it was going to end.
Abed looked into her big eyes and couldn't help but remember the scene in The Truman Show where Jim Carrey's character talks to Lauren/Sylvia in the library who's looking right through him. He seems hypnotized by this look that took him years to try (and fail) to forget.
Annie had that same look in her eyes and Abed frowned, secretly and suddenly worried. She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.
-But I'm really glad you got involved.
THE END
