The squeak of shoes against linoleum echoed throughout the deserted halls. Hours before chaos had ruled the building as wave after wave of injured ninjas had been brought in. Finally though, the injured Ninja's had stopped pouring in and control had been restored throughout the hospital.

Running a hand haphazardly through her shoulder length messy hair, Sakura held in a yawn. It was 3 am and her shift had ended well over an hour before. Low on chakra she had once again over done it and was now feeling the effects. Body aching with every step and fighting light headed-ness, the walk to the exit seemed to stretch on.

The reason for her late departure was all thanks to the Jounin exams which pushed every Ninja from every nation to try their hardest to injure or kill their opponent in order to win. Which in turn resulted in all able medic-nin to be present to revive the winners and losers.

Smiling she thought back to her own experiences with the exam. Pushing herself to the very fullest she had over come every barrier standing in her way to prove herself.

It had been worth it.

Afterwards, standing there battered and broken, head held high she had leant against her also battered teammates listening to the support of her friends.

She understood the pressure and training it took to get this far and the need to let no one get in their way.

Right now though after seeing firsthand the vast amount of pain and treatment even the victors had to go through it was iffy. Her head felt like a drummer had taken up residence in it and more then a little dizzy she had finally given in to her Teacher's orders and had agreed to go home and rest.

Now the only thing keeping her on her feet was the knowledge that very shortly she would be at home where everything would be quiet and peaceful. As soon as she walked out the front door of this place she had exactly 32 hours before she was expected back.

The possibilities were endless at this point.

It was either:

Bath, Food, Bed.

Or

Food and Bed

Or (Her personal favorite)

Bed for many, many hours of uninterrupted sleep

Inner: First person to wake us up discovers what it's like to eat out of a straw for the rest of eternity.

To harsh, more like first person to wake me up discovers the wonder of pressure points.

Passing the nurse's station she waved to one of her fellow workers before turning for the door.

Crinkling her forehead she stopped suddenly. In her way stood 3 other medic-nins huddled together and whispering harshly.

Close together and facing in two young nurses shook their heads at what the older, blonder nurse was saying.

"You tell her I'm not!" The one whispered to the other making wild gestures towards her.

"No way! You saw what happened the last time." The other defended herself.

"Last time was different, she'd been here nearly 3 days, its not even day 2 yet."

"I'm not.."

Seeing no possible way around them to the door she decided to reveal her presence.

"Ahem." Clearing her throat she met the stare of three sets of eyes. "Is there a problem ladies?"

Three mouths dropped open in surprise. Eyes widening they looked at each other before looking at the ground.

Counting to three silently Sakura waited to see if they were going to say anything before shrugging her shoulders and preparing to shove through if they weren't going to move.

"Haruno-san," The one who she had heard whispering first started.

Making eye contact she cocked her head, waiting.

"Before you leave there's a ninja requesting your services." Closing her eyes the medic waited for the pink haired medics explosive reaction that was well known throughout the hospital.

There was none.

Eyebrow's rising in confusion Sakura's first thought was one full of worry for her teammates/friends.

It had been her greatest fear as a student of the academy that one day while working, the people she treasured most would need her help and she would still be to weak to help them.

Even now the past insecurities would haunt her dreams and push her forward to do her best.

About to start demanding answers something suddenly clicked, calming her almost immediately. Both Naruto and Sasuke hadn't been on any recent missions and weren't scheduled to for another few days so they couldn't possibly be in that much trouble and Kakashi wasn't scheduled back for another couple of weeks so in reality he should be fine to.

She didn't know who else it could be. If one of her other friends had been hurt she was sure she would have seen the rest of their team by now.

Which meant that this wasn't someone she knew.

Which meant some stranger was interrupting her time off.

"Would you know who it is?" The question coming out colder then she had intended.

Suddenly all blushing, the lead nurse met her with a jealous gaze. "I believe it was the Uchiha."

"Sasuke?" Going into medic mode all fatigue disappeared. "What happened?"

What did Naruto do now!

Laughing lightly, slightly nervous the nurse shook her head. "Not Sasuke-kun, though he is cute. It was the older one, the heir."

Sakura Haruno froze in mid-thought, cheeks starting to tinge red.

Watching her closely the other medics easily picked up on her discomfort and rising embarrassment. Catching on quickly that something wasn't right they made eye contact with each other before stepping closer.

"Haruno-san I didn't know that you and Itachi-kun….?" Leaving the sentence open for speculation.

Startled Sakura shook her head in denial. "What? Of course not, I am Sasuke's teammate." Cheeks bright red she wanted to sink through the floor. Her inner was having a field day laughing at the furiously blushing medic.

"It's about time you found yourself a boyfriend." One of the quieter nurses said slyly.

Clenching her fists, the embarressment she felt bled into anger.

Her business was not going to be discussed by medics who apparently had to much time on their hands.

"Ladies," Her voice sharp. "I believe you just told me a patient requires assistance. As a medic may I remind you what our role is in the hospital?"

Their turn to look embarrassed. None met her stare as they lowered their gazes respectfully.

"Uchiha-san is a patient like any other and deserves the same respect."

He's not that good looking!

Inner: Snort Right that's why most of the dreams you've had about him have been less then T-Rated.

Blushing even more she cursed her inner self's ability to view her every thought and secret.

Furious at the turn of events she turned on her heel, snatching the file containing his history from the nurse's station before heading back down the hall she had just come from.

Trying not to make eye contact with anyone she passed, Sakura walked briskly down the hall, her thoughts a jumble.

She hadn't seen or talked to him since that eventful day.

Although awkward at first now she hardly remembered him.

Inner: LIAR!

Ugh, that wasn't totally true. She hadn't been able to stop thinking about him and it was all his fault! It didn't seem fair to her that he was able to make her feel like this without effort then walk away unaffected.

Stupid sex god looking man.

Stopping in front of the right room she drew in a deep breath. Opening the door slowly she was as quiet as possible.

She was going to be professional and distant if it killed her.

Lying on the bed in the center of the room with his eyes closed, she couldn't help but think he looked like a statue.

Remembering her self made promise to stay distanced she looked him over noting the ripped vest and hastily bandaged arm.

Moving her gaze up his body she took notice of the stress lines etched into his cheeks, deeper then ever.

Has he had problems sleeping since that night to?

"Hello Kitten," His voice braking through her thought.

Eyes opening he stared her directly in the eye, his dark gaze trapping her.

Clearing her throat at the name she opened the file in her hand.

"What happened?"

Peeking over the top of the paper she watched as his eyes seemingly darkened in anger.

"Training."

Fighting back a laugh she witnessed what she decided was as close as possible to a pout cross over his face.

Glaring slightly at her light giggle he raised his eyebrow.

"Sasuke's a lot like you, Naruto and him end up here all the time because of training."

A look of annoyance flashed over his features.

Setting down the file she walked closer to his bed. Peering down at him she gently pushed a piece of hair out of his face.

Watching quietly he witnessed her change from a happy innocent woman into a talented medic-nin. Unwrapping his arm efficiently she examined it closer. Tracing a finger down the gash she made a face at what she discovered.

"Poison?"

"Hn,"

Focusing intently she concentrated on pumping her remaining chakra into her hand to analyze the damage.

Smiling, she found it wasn't as bad as she had first thought. Pushing her chakra into his body she healed his arm slowly closing the cut and sealing the poison.

"There" She exclaimed brightly once again easy going.

Standing up she silently cursed the light-headedness she was suddenly feeling. Moving slowly she picked up the file and walked over to the bench.

Dark eyes narrowed in on her actions.

Leaning over she wrote down instructions for rest. Clenching the edge of the bench she turned back towards the bed, finding it empty and him standing directly in front of her.

"You shouldn't be out of bed yet."

Giving her an arrogant smirk he replied. "Uchiha's heal fast."

Shaking her head lightly she sighed. "Just like your brother."

His smirk disappeared.

Moving closer he stood centimeters away. "We both may be Uchiha's but when it comes to you we aren't the same."

Growling roughly he gently nudged her back against the door. Staring into her eyes as if reading her very soul he reached down and locked the door.

"Sakura," It was the first time she had heard him use her real name and the force behind it quickened her pulse.

Moving in he kissed her lips roughly. Plunging between her lips, his tongue curled with her own.

Bringing his mouth to her ear he nipped it lightly.

"Your not getting away Kitten."

Another nip

"Ever."

Flushed and absolutely light headed Sakura nodded her agreement, her senses honed to the man before her.

Smirking lightly he ran his hand down the side of her face.

Frowning, he took in her pale colour and need to lean against him for help as he cradled her against him gently.

Before she could form any words she was high in his arms being carried back towards his bed.

"Itachi-san I.."

Kissing her firmly he stopped her from finishing. Drawing back he looked down at her.

"Itachi," She mumbled, smiling up at him sleepily.

"Hn"

Making it to the bed he pulled back the covers before placing her down gently.

Curling towards him she smiled again. The room seemed to be swirling around her she noted.

"Will you be here when I wake up?" The words slurring lightly.

Covering her up he sat at the side of her bed watching her still form.

"Hn."
