Tuesday May 12, 2015 ( 6 weeks after Derek's funeral )
Callie, Arizona, and Alex are sit at a table in the cafateria laughing.
Suddenly, a alert is sounded off loud and clear.
" Red Alert ! Red Alert ! Emergency with a suicidal indvidual !
All mental ward doctors and ER doctors head to the back of the
hospital outside immediatly ! "
All three exchange scared looks as they scamble to where they are told.
Outside is pure panic. Two police cars and an stand by ambulance.
Callie, Arizona, and Alex are horrified to find the jumper is Meredith Grey.
" What the fuck ? ! " Alex shouts.
" Meredith, get down from there this minute ! Don't do this, Grey ! Don't
you dare do this to us and your kids ! " Callie yells in a panic.
" Please, Meredith ! Listen to us ! This won't bring Derek back ! You know
that ! If you jump, you will die and those kids will have no parents ! You
don't want that ! " Arizona tries to reason with a crazed Meredith.
Afraid of her next move, Webber orders Alex silently up to the roof.
He nods and runs quickly. Everyone watches on as Alex makes his way up to Meredith.
" Stay back ! Stay back ! I'll jump ! " Meredith shouts in tears.
Alex holds up his hands to calm her.
" Listen to me, Meredith. We just buried Derek six weeks ago. If you do
jump today, we will have to bury you. Derek would not want that and
you know it. " Alex swallows and waits for her unpredicable response.
Meredith clenches her teeth and shakes her head.
" Shut up ! You know nothing about him ! " Meredith's voice is edgy.
" Here's what I know, Meredith. Derek, he loved you. He was a great
doctor. A great friend. A great man. Killing yourself would be nothing
but a dishonor of his memory. He spent his life, saving lives. Only
for you to do this ? Don't do this. " Alex is pleading in tears now.
Suddenly Meredith has a flashback.
(flashback)
She and Derek are laying in bed. He had treated a patient who was a
teenager, who comitted suicide. He had died on the OR table.
" Meredith, please promise me something ? "
" Sure, Derek. "
" Never try suicide. That boy was only sixteen. Never take your own
life for any reason. Please, promise me... "
" Ok, I promise. I'll never kill myself. "
" Good, because I want you and me to live til we're old and grey. "
Meredith smiles and they kiss.
( End of flashback )
Meredith is shaking, her mind is reeling.
Derek is dead. Derek is dead. He left me.
Suddenly, she hears a faint voice. It's Derek's voice.
Meredith, listen to Alex. You need to live for me. Don't jump.
" Derek ... ? " Meredith whispers to the air.
Don't jump. If you jump, my death will be in vein. Stop this.
Alex is heard again pleading to Meredith.
" Meredith, back away from the edge. Come on, please. There's so many
people who love you and need you. " Alex is now crying.
The faint voice comes back to Meredith.
Alex is right. Meredith, he loves you and could be a father to our kids.
He's a good man. You have a lot to look forward to.
Meredith slowly backs away and Alex grabs her in a hug. They climb to the
gound, and she is immediatly tied to a gurney be mental ward staff.
" Stop ! Stop ! I'm not crazy ! Let me go ! " Meredith's pleas are ignored.
At this point, Callie, Arizona, Alex, Richard, Bailey, and the others are all
crying together.
They had come so close to burying a 6th one of their own.
