The ringing phone pierces the quiet night and wakes Addison and Jake from their slumber. The ringtone let's them know that the guilty phone belongs to Addison but they both dread the unknown reason for a late night phone call, they know nothing good is going to come from the person on the other end, especially at this hour.

Jake sits up and turns on the bedside lamp while Addison reaches for her cell. She is momentarily stunned to see Amelia's name flash on the screen, she and Jake share a worried look. Addison tries not to let herself panic as she answers, "Amelia?"

Silence is all that greets her in return, and it scares her, "Amelia, are you there? Is something wrong?" Jake looks equally scared next to his wife, he might not be as close to Amelia as Addison, but he did help her through her pregnancy and the loss of her son and gave her advice over the years. Amelia is family.

After a moment, Addison was able to hear the quiet sobbing. It was as if Amelia was crying so hard that she couldn't even catch her breath, it broke Addison's heart to hear her sister in so much pain and she hated that she was too far away to give her a hug.

"Breathe Amelia, just breathe," Addison coached, unsure of what she could do for Amelia other than just be there for her. She heard the younger woman struggling to take in air between sobs and Addison found herself getting teary-eyed without even knowing the situation, hearing Amelia's pain made her hurt.

Jake was at a loss on how he could help, he just placed a supporting hand on his wife's shoulder as she listened to the cries on the phone. So many scenarios were going on in his head, and he knew Addison was probably thinking up reasons behind Amelia's call as well. Did someone hurt her? Was she sick? Did she relapse? If she relapsed was it alcohol? Drugs? Both?

Addison could hear Amelia calming down, but only slightly.

"Addie..."

"Amelia, you are scaring me. Please tell me what is wrong?" Addison begged.

"It's Derek," Amelia sobbed. Addison's heart dropped, almost knowing but not quite expecting what Amelia said next:

"He's gone."

I'm no writer, trust me I know. I just felt like I had to type this since I know we will never get this scene. Forgive my mistakes.
