A fresh start for Pokemon: Alana's story. Hopefully I can finish this one.
…
…Hey…wake…day…we get…Poke…!
"Aaarggg…" A young girl yawned and rubbed her eyes. "What? Get off me Kacy!"
"Alana!" Kacy snapped. "Have you forgotten what day today is?"
"Um…"Alana slipped out of bed. "A Monday?"
Kacy wacked her over the head.
"You idiot! Today is the day we get our first pokemon from professor Elm!"
"Oww…" Alana rubbed her head. "Come on Kacy! I know that!"
"Hurry up and come down stairs before I go without you!"
Grumbling to herself Alana followed Kacy down stairs.
"Morning Alana, you're finally up. Kacy was asking all morning for you." A woman in her late thirties walked up to Alana.
"Good morning mum." Alana yawned. "Where is she?"
Mum raised an eyebrow. "She's already left. Did you have a late night?"
"Just couldn't sleep."
"So Alana, you've decided to turn up after all." A man watched her disapprovingly as she burst through the lab door. Kacy stood next to him with a boy Alana had never seen before.
"Sorry Professor Elm." Alana panted.
"Well, since we're all here now, I'll begin." Professor turned to the other two as Alana went to take her place. "Today all three of you are turning ten, the age when the world welcomes new pokemon trainers." He rested his gaze on each of them. "To my left are three pokeballs, each containing a Johto starter. Each of you will receive one of them to travel with you as your friend and partner on your journey to come. Now… Come forward and pick a starter."
The boy immediately stepped forward. He took the second pokeball and threw it up. "Cyndaquil! I choose you!"
A fire mouse bursted out "Cinda!" It cried as fires sprouted from its back.
Kacy stepped forward, reaching for the far left pokeball. "Um…Ok, come on out, Chikorita!"
"Chiko!" A green pokemon with a leaf on its head jumped out and nuzzled Kacy's leg.
"Awww…you're so cute…"
Alana blinked. A look of annoyance passed across her face. She stepped forwards and threw the last pokeball into the air. "Totodile!"
"Ta, Tata!" A blue crocodile came out of this pokeball. "Ta?" It crooked it's head and looked around.
Professor nodded. "These pokemon you have chosen will aid you in the days to come. Take care of them and go follow your dreams!"
"Hey Kacy, where should we go first?" Alana asked as soon as they walked out of the lab.
Kacy shrugged. "You know, I've been thinking… Maybe we should spilt up on our journey."
Alana blinked in surprise. "Split up? Why?" She asked, a little hurt.
Kacy shrugged again. "You know, meet some new people, Do some new things…"
"Oh." Alana looked down and shuffled her feet. "I see. I understand."
Kacy looked up, alarmed. "I mean, we don't have to…"
Alana shook her head. "No it's ok, we'll both learn more like that, we can't rely too much on each other. It'll be fine."
Kacy looked doubtful. "Well, if you say so…"
"Tata…" Totodile blinked at his trainer through sad eyes.
Alana sighed and absent mindedly patted him as she watched the person she she's known for longer than she can remember walk in the rays of the setting sun.
Is this it? She's leaving. Why? Why would she want to leave? Doesn't she care about me? Doesn't our friendship matter to her?
She shook her head with a sigh. Scolding herself, she signalled for Totodile to follow as she walked into the forest.
