~The Grave of the Forgotten Mother~
...
…
It was near midnight in the merciless, harsh deserts of Plegia. No one would be able to see their hands and feet if not for the shining bright stars twinkling in the night sky. There was a gloomy, dark atmosphere hovering above the sands of the dry wasteland. However, it did not stop from a mysterious hooded figure from pushing through the cold winds blowing against him.
His purple Plegian cloak whipped up and flapped in the strong breeze. With each and every step the dark figure took, the sand covered up the trial of footsteps behind him. The man left behind the present, in order to catch up to the past.
An abandoned graveyard lies in the middle of nowhere. It was a mess. Chucks of ancient cobblestones and stone pillars were scattered about on the sandy ground. Broken tombstones and rotten dug-up bodies were situated randomly inside the ruined structure.
However, there was one tombstone left untouched. It was a flower in middle of vast wasteland… and like a one in the lifetime miracle.
The mysterious hooded figure walked towards that peculiar gravestone, and kneeled down in sorrow to pray respect to the dead.
I just want you~
I just want you~
The words I never said but wanted to~
The crooked and wavy words of the almost perfect tombstone read:
Here lies the woman who gave birth to the rightful vessel to our only hope and god, Grima,
Wife of Validar Evrardin,
The sole traitor of the Plegian blood line,
Reflet Mille
The hooded figure lifted up his hood, revealing his slivery-white hair and dark brown eyes. That man was Robin.
"Mother…" He whispered to the tombstone in sadness.
…I'm losing you~
…I'm losing you~
Robin, the grandmaster of the Shepherds, had finally found the roots of his beginning… in the hands of Death.
"Mother… I… I am here." Robin reached his hand out and touched the delicate cravings on the ancient stone.
…But these thoughts won't let you go~
…They keep running back to you~
After all this while, the tactician could only just touch 'her'.
…Chasing Ghost~
There was no motherly, soothing voice…
There was no sign of her figure with long slivery hair that Robin had inherited…
There was no happy reunion….
…Chasing Ghost~
All Robin could feel in his heart was the feeling of utter emptiness. Tears of sorrow and grief fall from his face as the crying tactician hung his head in shame. He did not remember her face, her personality and the memorable times he had with her.
His mind started to reflect back on what he heard was the cause of his forgotten mother's death.
…
…
"You…! Where is she?" Robin demanded as he shouted angrily at the evil dark mage that was his father.
"Hmm…?" Vaildar questioned as his thick dark eyebrow rose, along with a puzzled expression on his face.
"Where is my mother?" Robin shouted out the question once again.
"Oh… You are talking about that woman. The one who betrayed me by stealing you away from the crib and running away, preventing the ritual to revival our god." The supreme dark mage scoffed and spoke about the woman in question in disgust and hatred.
"She… She did..?" The white-haired man widened his eyes in shock as he heard the words from his father's mouth.
"We could have done all this much, much sooner if she did not betray me… betray the bloodline of our ancient ancestors. Tsk… Thanks to the wraith of Grima, she is dead…"
"What…?" The words about her death seemed out of place to him.
"She died, you naïve fool…" Vaildar raged as he repeated his words once again. "She died trying to 'protect' you! SHE DIED BECAUSE OF YOU!"
…
…
Robin gripped the edge of his mother's grave tightly. More tears of dread and guilt streamed his cheeks. It was his fault. His existence caused the death of the woman who gave birth to him.
…And I'm bleeding words…
…They escape me, the recoil it hurts~
"I'm sorry… I caused you to be like this. I am so, so sorry, Mother… Please forgive me."
…And I can't look the other way~
The love of a mother was a foreign to the man. He could only observe it unfold from his comrades while they cared and showed motherly affection to their children. He had only read stories from the books and heard of the experience from his beloved wife.
…I'm chasing starlight to find it's died away~
In the end, he would not have a single opportunity to feel what is like to be loved from his mother ever again.
…Breathe it in~
…It just now~
Suddenly, a loud roar of the shadow dragon could be heard from a far distance. Robin temporary stopped and wiped his tears as he slowly stood up from the grave. The vessel of the fell dragon looked up to the sky and spotted a patch of stormy dark clouds circling around a tall mountain.
…We're just falling~
...And we won't always free fall,
…Back to nothing~
With his past long gone in the sands of the barren desert, his mind, body and soul had to come back to the present and head towards the future.
Robin was reminded of his mission as he gave a look of hatred and anger towards at the location of his next target. He turned to look back at the final resting place of his mother.
"Mother… I'll finish what you have started. I will challenge fate and defy destiny." The son of the forgotten female Plegian gave a broken smile at her. He gave one last look at the gravestone before walking away with his hood back on over his head.
…Cause I'm starting to learn~
"Someday, I'll come back for you…"
"Wait for me, Mother…"
…I have always been chasing ghost~
