Dream of Dreams
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or any of its characters
Hey "Cat,"
How are you? How are things from the other side of the room?
Hehe, yeah I don't even get why I bother to do this troublesome letter stuff if I can save a majority of the effort by talking instead of writing. Oh well, I guess doing this is alright anyw-
"Hey Shikamaru, what are you doing?" Ino said, interrupting his writing.
He quickly folded the paper, hiding the written content.
"Nothing, woman."
Kiba took the paper from his hands. "I'm sure it's nothing," the dog-boy said, having a look inside. "So who's this "Cat?"
Ino grinned, taking the paper, "A lover, perhaps?"
Shikamaru sighed. "What are you two thinking about, it wouldn't be a lover – "
"My son has a girlfriend?" The voice came from the entrance of the room. Yoshino looked at her boy in shock.
So did everyone else in the room.
Chouji laughed. "You guys are all idiots."
Naruto looked at him, puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Chouji stole the paper from Ino. "It's for Temari."
All heads turned from Shikamaru to the Suna girl.
"For me?" She said, curious.
Chouji nodded.
She got out of her seat and took the sheet of paper.
Shikamaru watched. Oh no, she wasn't meant to see it..
He got up and dived for the paper, but missed, falling hard onto the ground.
Then he woke up.
Shikamaru looked around, realising he was no longer with his friends, but in his bed.
He sighed. "Just a dream."
Lazily, he got up and got ready for the day.
"I'll see you guys later," he said to his parents, getting ready to walk through the door.
"You're going already?" Yoshino asked.
"Yeah, don't worry mum, I'll eat something on the way."
Shikaku smirked. "You wouldn't want to be late in seeing your cat."
Shikamaru stopped. "W-what?"
His mother giggled. "We know about your 'cat' Shikamaru."
He blinked a couple of times. "How?"
Shikaku laughed. "You're going to be late, boy. See you later."
With a groan, Shikamaru went on his way.
"Hey Shikamaru!" Tenten greeted as he walked past.
"Hey, do you know where –"
"Your cat's just outside the ramen shop," she replied, smiling.
"I meant Temari."
She smiled and walked off. "I know."
He wanted to ask her how everyone seemed to know, but now wasn't the time.
As he walked to the Ichiraku Ramen, he passed by the blonde boy.
"Hey Shikamaru, on your way to see your cat?"
"Alright that's it," Shikamaru said, irritated. "Why do you people call Temari 'cat', and why do you all know about it too?"
"That's easy, because you have to wake up or you'll be late."
Shikamaru raised an eyebrow. "Wait, what?"
"I said get up you lazy kid!"
Shikamaru woke up. Again.
This time seeing his cat staring at him from above.
"Honestly, you have a job to do, Shikamaru," said Yoshino from his bedroom door. "Hurry up or you'll have Temari waiting."
"You didn't say I'd have my 'cat' waiting."
Yoshino looked at her son, confused. "Your cat is on top of your bed, not waiting for an escort."
With that, she left.
Shikamaru yawned and looked at the cat, trying to recall the dream.
"When I said you'd remind me of her," he said softly toward the pet, "I didn't mean you'd actually be her."
The cat purred softly before going back to sleep.
He smiled and laid back down.
"Yeah, good idea, Temari can wait while I have a couple more dreams."
End.
A/N
This was actually what happened to me. The only difference would be the dialogue, the characters (which represented particular people from my dream), and they way he woke up. Sounds like a lot, but trust me, It isn't.
The "remind me of her" bit is from a previous story, "a reminder." Those who read my stories should know by now that I like to link many of my stories together. Also this story might be a bit confusing unless you read that.
