Proximity

if only close is good enough.

Ryotaro had a yearning for Kahoko at night and it gets worse everytime.

He had to make a move.

There had been a sexual tension between Ryotaro and Kahoko. The former was so sure of it. He made a few assumptions to why they weren't what they're supposed to be; more than friends.

He thinks that Kahoko is keeping a safe distance between them because she's afraid of crossing the line.

But it could be that she likes the way things are, and she doesn't want to change a thing between them.

Alternatively, Ryotaro thought that it must have been due to the fact that Kahoko is too painfully shy.

It was either one of these reasons, he is so sure of it, that appeared as an obstacle to the progress of their relationship. Ryotaro just knew that they could be something more. He was so damn sure of it.

Ryotaro and Kahoko are good friends. He knew that a certain violinist had envied that. Not that he cared, because Ryotaro could live on with his life with or without a consideration of Len's feelings.

So what if that snob feels a twinge of jealousy at the sight of them together? Because Ryotaro could definitely live with that, with or without a gratifying smirk and a victorious sensation tingling inside.

So what if they're close? So what if they're friends? So what if he and Kahoko epitomized the perfect friendship a man and a woman could ever share? Ryotaro thought one day when he came across Len and Kahoko defining love.

They were close enough but that was never sufficient to blossom into something beautiful.

Proximity was never the condition for intimacy.

Love and proximity.

Fate is such a bitch to create a barrier in between these two things. The fair distance in between was terribly agonizing because no matter how close he could ever get to her; she will always be out of his reach.

Ryotaro guessed that friends just aren't meant to be lovers.
