AN: So first joshaya fic, to the Taylor Swift song Mine, yes my love for Taylor is showing.

You were in college working part time waiting tables

Left a small town, never looked back

I was a flight risk with a fear of fallin'

Wondering why we bother with love if it never lasts

Maya Hart hadn't seen Joshua Matthews or Uncle Boing as she liked to call him for a few months now, somehow he was never over at the Matthews when she was and she was over pretty much 24/7. She missed him, he was busy with his third year of College, and Maya was completing her senior year at Abigail Adams High School. All of her friends had been dating for at least two years, Riley had Lucas, Farkle had Isadora and Zay had Vanessa. Maya just wanted someone to love and care for, like her friends had, but she had this fear that any relationship that she would have would end up like her parents and she didn't want that. When Maya was 17, Josh made her a promise. He would go out with her when she turned 18, and he kept his promise. She was currently waiting at a coffee shop near NYU for one Joshua Matthews. When he arrived, Maya stood up and hugged him. It wasn't awkward for either of them, he's known this girl for more ten years and he has strong feelings for her, but never did anything for three years because he was scared of being with Maya, he though he was going to hurt her and he didn't want to break an amazing girl like Maya Hart if they dated when she was younger.

"So how are you? I haven't seen you in forever." Maya said as they sat down at their table.

"I'm good, just swamped in assignments. I just needed a moment to breathe. I'm glad it's with you." Josh said.

Maya smiled, and Josh continued talking.

"So how are you, is my brother working you too hard?" He asked.

"No, he isn't actually. I actually got my GPA up, I applied to the art program at NYU and I got in. Early acceptance" Maya said.

"Maya that's amazing. I'm so proud of you." Josh said.

"Thank you. That means a lot to me." Maya said.

The two of them then talked for hours, so much so that they both didn't notice that it was getting late and the cafe was about to close. The couple wanted to continue talking, it's like they hadn't run out of things to discuss, so the two of the them headed to Central Park. It was a beautiful Fall night, however it was a little cold, but it didn't bother either of them. Maya missed her 10pm curfew, as it was a Sunday night and she had school in the morning. She tried to sneak into the apartment at 11pm, but her mother saw her. Surprisingly Maya wasn't grounded, Katy wanted to hear about her daughters coffee date with the boy she had loved since she was 14. Katy knew that Joshua Matthews was special to Maya.

I say, "Can you believe it?"

As we're lying on the couch

The moment I can see it.

Yes, yes, I can see it now.

Maya and Josh had been dating for a few months now, ever since that coffee date in November. He called her after she spoke to her mother about said coffee date and asked her to go out with him. Of course she agreed. Currently they were at Josh's apartment (He got a place off campus at the start of the school year and she stayed over on weekend.) Both were watching Orphan Black. It was one of those shows that this couple enjoyed together. Maya was lying on Josh and she spoke up.

"You know what. I actually see my future with you. I never thought I would with anyone." Maya said.

"How so?" Josh asked.

"Well I see nights like this, just watching tv after our kids have gone to bed and you playing with them. I just never thought no one would love me like you would." Maya said. Josh smiled.

"I've always seen a future with you Maya Hart." Josh said, and that made Maya's heart flutter.

Do you remember, we were sitting there by the water?

You put your arm around me for the first time.

You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter.

You are the best thing that's ever been mine.

It was Josh's 22nd Birthday and it was also Valentine's Day. The couple went out for a nice dinner just the two of them, Josh told his family that they could celebrate his birthday the next day, as he just wanted to be with Maya on his birthday. They were sitting on the edge of the Hudson River. There was snow on the ground, which somehow made everything more magical. At that moment Josh did something he hadn't done since they started dating, yes he did it a few years ago. He put his arm around Maya and she felt save and content with Josh. Maya felt like doing something reckless, so Josh somehow followed her to a public swimming pool in Brooklyn. They both climbed the fence, Josh didn't like this idea and tried to stop her, but Maya is her own person, so he just let her go.

"Maya, we're gonna get caught." Josh whispered to his girlfriend.

"No we're not, besides you told me that you're brother will bail us out if we ever go to jail." Maya said.

"I know, but I'm not explaining why." Josh said. Maya jumped in the pool fully clothed. It was freezing and you could see her breathing out.

"Jump in." Maya shouted to Josh. And at that moment, Josh did something crazy. He jumped into a public pool. They didn't stay for long, an alarm went off and the two of them bolted from the swimming pool. They didn't get arrested, but they did end up at Josh's apartment and Maya didn't go home that night, even though it was a school night.

Flash forward and we're taking on the world together,

And there's a drawer of my things at your place.

You learn my secrets and you figure out why I'm guarded,

You say we'll never make my parents' mistakes.

As soon as Maya graduated high school, she moved in with Josh. It was easy as she stayed there every weekend. She already had a closet of clothes at her boyfriends' place (She even had a draw at her best friends' house, her boyfriends niece.) The couple learns more secrets about each other and Josh is finally told the story about her father left her when she was just a little girl. That broke his heart. Josh promised Maya that they would never end up like her parents and for that, she was grateful, as Joshua Matthews always kept to his word.

But we got bills to pay,

We got nothing figured out, When it was hard to take,

Yes, yes, this is what I thought about.

It would be lie to say that Josh and Maya didn't struggle, Maya was a college student, earning minimum wage at Topanga's and selling paintings she had created and Josh was struggling to find a job. They were just surviving, but they were happy with each other and that's all that mattered.

Do you remember, we were sitting there by the water?

You put your arm around me for the first time

You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter

You are the best thing that's ever been mine.

When Maya felt like breaking, because she felt like she couldn't survive. She though of the early days dating Josh, that night they jumped in a public pool in the middle of February. That was a fun night and she would never forget it.

Do you remember all the city lights on the water?

You saw me start to believe for the first time

You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter

You are the best thing that's ever been mine.

Another memory that comes to Maya's memory about the early days of dating Josh, was that one night they got ice cream and they were walking the Hudson River, and they could see the lights of Brooklyn and it just looked amazing. That night Maya did another crazy thing. It's like Josh brought her out of her shell, she seemed to do crazy things when she was with him. They were so proud of each other and never wanted let the other one go.

Oh, oh, oh, oh

And I remember that fight

Two-thirty AM

As everything was slipping right out of our hands

I ran out crying and you followed me out into the street

Braced myself for the "Goodbye."

'Cause that's all I've ever known

Then you took me by surprise

You said, "I'll never leave you alone.

Once Maya finished College, they moved to New Jersey. The couple were still close to the city. Maya got a job as a High School Art teacher and Josh also found a job that he enjoyed, however long hours were the downfall of his job. One night he was so swamped with work, he didn't come home until about 2.30am. This upset Maya and they started fighting.

"I though you were going to be home hours ago." Maya started calmly.

"Sorry, I just got caught up. I didn't realise the time." Josh said.

"I can't do this anymore." Maya said.

"What do you mean by that?" Josh asked.

"I just can't wait up for you, just hoping you'll get home. I'm scared that I'll lose you." Maya said screaming and with that, she ran out of the house. Josh ran out after her and held her tightly.

"Maya listen to me. You will never lose me ok. I'm still keeping my promise I made to you 5 years ago." Josh said. She knew what this promise was; they would never end up like her parents did.

You said, "I remember how we felt sitting by the water.

And every time I look at you, it's like the first time.

I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter.

She is the best thing that's ever been mine."

Josh proposed to Maya, a few months after their huge fight. He re-created dates they had in the early days of dating, like the coffee shop date, the Brooklyn pool date and a few others. He proposed to her when they were sitting on the edge of the Hudson River.

"You know what. Every time I look at you. I just remember the first time we met. You were 8 years old and you came with Cory, Topanga, Riley and Auggie to Philly for the first time. I think I was love with you then and there. As the years went on, you loved me, but I didn't want to hurt you, so that's why I waited to have a relationship you. These 6 years with you have been the best of my life, and I can't wait for it to continue. Maya Penelope Hart, will you marry me?" Josh asked.

"I though you would never ask." Maya said and she kissed him. He know they were engaged.

Hold on, make it last

Hold on, never turn back

About a year after they got engaged, they were married in a small New York chapel, it was just friends and family. It was one of the best days of both their lives. Not long after their wedding, Maya was pregnant with their first child, a girl. Two more children followed in the span of 4 years, both of them were girls.

You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter

You are the best thing that's ever been mine.

(Hold on) do you believe it?
(Hold on) we're gonna make it now.
(Hold on) and I can see it,
(Yes, yes) I can see it now (see it now, see it now...)

Maya Hart became more rebellious because of Joshua Matthews, he was the perfect person for Maya Hart. Both of them knew that they would end up together. They knew since they were both teenagers. These two would love each until they died, and that's what happened, when both of them died within days of each other, leaving 3 children and 6 grandchildren behind.

AN: I hope you guys enjoy it, please review, and suggest what other songs I should do.
