("Shelter From The Rain,")
by Shimegami-chan
Author's Note:1x2 aka shounen-ai.
I stand alone, shivering, under the merciless pelting of cold droplets from the sky.
Waiting.
Where was he? He said he'd come. But then, he was always late.
Why are you still standing there like a fool?
/In the distance, (thunder) breaks like the roar of the sea
When I hear the sound of rain (I have) this mysterious feeling
Always high spirited, you come running (towards me)
If only time would stop like this. . .I secretly wish/
There he is, chestnut braid flying; is it my name he calls?
Whispering apologies stolen by the wind.
I let him pull me out of the cold and into his arms.
It's warm there, but we cannot stay forever
He takes my hand.
This isn't the safest place to be in this weather, I insist.
I don't really mind; no thunder will threaten my blue sky
He can make me sit undershady branches
Curled up against the thick trunk, holding me tight.
/If we meet by some miracle, once again it might come true
For a while, here like this
Underneath the big tree, shelter from the rain/
He must know that his crazy ideas sometimes unnerve me
But not this time
The cool droplets merge before my eyes into a curtain, a shimmering waterfall
Splashing to the grass below
They slide down smooth leaves and shower all around us
A perfect circle
Frozen in time.
/We gazed at the sky, the clouds laughed
Filling both hands to overflowing, while we looked back at tomorrow/
Do I dare break the moment by reaching out to touch that tantalizing spray?
The cascade mesmerizes me
He holds his palm out for the liquid's inspection
I stand under the sheets of ice
And he laughs.
The thoughts running through my head must be more incredible than his own, he says
But I know that's not possible
Only when I'm with him does the feeling emerge
It envelops me like so much euphoria
Like the taste of him, the scent of him
Melting with salty tears and sweet rain
We share another kiss, and suddenly he is gone
I stand alone in the rain
He glances over his shoulder, chestnut braid flying behind
Violet eyes sweep me in, hold me close
Sends me that brilliant smile
I love you--
I am in the embrace of the rain
Ashiteru
Until tomorrow
/Time resumes its flow, dissolves
On a bus bound for somewhere far away, I, alone, closed my eyes/
I wonder what they would think?
I shiver.
Water slides from my body, mingled with tears and everything that is him--
I can't hide from reality much longer
We both knew that when this began
Those violet eyes are gazing at me from somewhere far away
Is he thinking of me?
Does he know I'm thinking of him?
The memory of his smile keeps me going
/Who (do I hear) I wonder? From the other side of the window
A laughing voice floats
In that place where everything seems to be
We saw the same dream, didn't we? Shelter from the rain/
Those eyes peer into the depths of my soul
To a person I never knew was there
He's patient. As am I
The violet joins with colbalt, like my own,
emerald, marigold, sunset, ruby--
peeking out from a lonely cloud
/A miraculous chance meeting, always
Is in the palm of one's hand
The phantom laughs even now
The swaying of the big tree, in that place/
The last droplets fall to Earth, and I am left to see the beautiful rainbow
The violet of his eyes
the ruby of our love
I wonder if he's on the other side of that rainbow?
I'm standing alone, shivering
I have to wait a little longer
Until tomorrow, when I'll meet him again
He's going to be late, as usual
But I can look into those eyes while he apologizes
I'm sorry - I love you -
Under the shelter of the tree.
