Velma learns over the years that Roxie can make her feel cold, too.

It was the way she screamed at her, when Velma lost her wedding ring. Careless. Irresponsible. Roxie's voice had cracked here and there, letting Velma see the Roxie she knew, and loved. Roxie's eyes were filled with tears, but that didn't stop Velma from seeing the rage behind them. For a moment, Velma was scared she was going to end up like Fred.

But, then Roxie stopped screaming.

She cleared her throat, sucking in a deep breath. "I'll help you find it."

They found it under their bed, and Velma had let out a nervous chuckle as she slipped it back on, not even daring to meet the fiery gaze of her wife.

Careless. Irresponsible.

She felt even colder when Roxie didn't hold her that night.

Velma wanted to laugh at herself, unsure when and how she'd become so... Clingy. Needy.

Of course, she doesn't realize that the blonde on the left side of the bed is having to grasp the sheets, just to resist turning to wrap an arm around Velma's waist. Because she's supposed to be mad at Velma, right? Like Amos had been mad at her, the time she had lost the engagement ring Amos had given her.

She calls the only person she knows of that could help. This girl, Marlene, who they'd met not long ago had been one of their closest friends since they moved to New York. Marlene had sighed, telling Roxie that what Amos did was wrong, which was followed by a bitter laugh from Roxie, and that how she reacted wasn't normal, or healthy at all.

If you wanna keep her, Rox, you gotta get your shit together.

Roxie apologizes eventually, and Velma can see the love in her eyes again.

I'm sorry for being such a bitch, V. I just wasn' thinking straight, y'know?

And Velma decides that she's more warm than cold, so she forgives her.

Because the way Roxie looks at her, the way she smiles at Velma is maybe, just maybe, worth having to go a night or two without being held.

So, Velma starts holding Roxie when that happens. She knows Roxie loves her, that she'd never hurt her on purpose.

Unless Velma asked for it.

But, that's another story.

For now, everything is calm and peaceful in the Hart-Kelly household.

Even when Velma wakes up to Cosmo, their cat, sleeping on her face.
