A certain buzz was in the air, people were excited. It was December 20th which meant for the students of Hogwarts Christmas break would begin in a short 2 days. The great hall was decorated with the usual 12 trees, twinkling lights surrounded the windows, wreaths hung on the doors and even mistletoe hung in some places.
Hermione Granger loved this time of year. The decorations, the music and the celebration of family and friends. Her best friends Harry and Ron were the perfect people to celebrate with, she was going to be spending the holiday at the Weasley's, like always.
Her parents weren't very particular about where she spent Christmas as long as she called and knew where she was. So this year was no different, her parents loved all the Weasley's and Harry. So of course she was in high spirits. Nobody could ruin this, or at least that's what she thought.
She was wandering around the castle not exactly sure where she was going. She usually left the exploring to her more spontaneous friends, but she thought she would give it a try for herself. Before she could turn around she found herself in the North Tower.
She heard crying. It was not a girl crying, it was defiantly a boy. It sounded a lot like Draco but Hermione didn't want to jump to conclusions. She round the corner but stayed partially hidden so he wouldn't see her.
She had no such luck though.
"Granger?" She came into his view, and smiled nervously.
"Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear you crying." He glared slightly at her, as her spook. As much as Ron and Harry hated him, she couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
"It's none of your business." He looked away from her face. She slowly made her way to his side and he scooted away from her, but she ignored it.
"I won't say a word, I'll just listen." He looked at her and his face softened. She smiled.
"Fine, but don't expect anything to change between up," she nodded, "when I was 6 my grandfather died on Christmas, which is the reason why I hate this holiday." Hermione was suddenly overcome with sadness, she felt bad for Draco, she felt bad about everything she had every said that was unkind. She felt bad for punching him in the face.
"Draco I'm so sorry," He glared at her and she immediately shut her mouth.
"He helped me; he helped me against my dad." Draco mumbled, a tear forming in the side of his eye. Hermione put her hand on his, and gently put her head on his shoulder. He was silent, but kissed her forehead, in a way of thank you.
And in that moment, in the castle of Hogwarts, enemies became friends, in that one moment they went together like red and green at Christmastime.

Word Count: 482. This is my first Harry Potter fic and I must say I am in love with it! Then again, Harry Potter=Love. I really didn't expect my first HP story to be Draco/Hermione, but it ended up that way!
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, it belongs to my own form of god, J.K. Rowling!
