I got a letter today.

From a place called Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It must be something great, because my mother was so proud when she read the letter; she sent a response back right away.

Maybe I should start by introducing myself, even though this is just a diary, mother says it would be good to get my feelings out, and cure some of my semi-violent tendencies.

I am Lyndell Greenleaf, I'm eleven years old, and have long blonde hair and gray eyes. I am an elf. I have a mother, an older brother, Damen and an older sister, Sari. My father disappeared about a year ago and we have no idea where he could possibly be. My siblings and I fear he may be dead but we don't talk about it in front of our mother, for fear she shall die of heartbreak. Now, back to this letter. It wasn't delivered by a hawk, like our mail is usually delivered, which gave the first impression that this wasn't any ordinary letter. It came by owl, which is very strange because there are absolutely no owls where I live.

I asked my mother what Hogwarts is and she explained about it being a school that teaches magic. She went when she was my age, of course she attended when it was first started, was best friends with Rowena Ravenclaw and even dated Godric Gryffindor at one point. Those names don't mean much to me and when I told her that, she just smiled and said they would soon. Well, I must help with dinner now, more later.

Things to do:

Ask mother to explain more about Hogwarts and the wizarding world Learn to use Floo Powder Set my tigers free before Sari tells mother on me (again)

Sorry it's been a while, but I've been busy. I cannot believe my brother would have the audacity to do that. Act with such usurped authority. My brother actually had the nerve to tell me, no, to forbid me to go to Hogwarts.

We had just settled down to dinner and mother and I were talking about Diagon Alley and all the supplies I would need. My brother cleared his throat and my sister nodded at him. p

"I have an announcement." He said. "I have decided that Annie shall not go to Hogwarts. I don't want her disgracing the family name by becoming a..a.." my brother trailed off, looking for the correct word.

" A freak." My sister supplied. I sat there and my mouth fell open with shock. I ran into my room and began to cry. A few minutes later my mother came in.

"Annie? Sweetie, don't fret, you will go to Hogwarts. Come with me." She said, taking my hand and leading me into the study where a large fire was blazing. She threw some powder into the fire and it turned green.

I looked at her curiously. "I've owled ahead to Tom, he runs the Leaky Cauldron, and he has a room all set up for you. He'll show you around Diagon Alley and help you get everything you need for Hogwarts. Now go before your brother comes in." My mother explained.

I hugged my mother and went into the fire. Next thing I knew, I was in the dining area of the Leaky Cauldron. Tom showed me to my room and said he'd show me around tomorrow.
