"She traced her finger down his shoulder, smiling coyly. 'What do you want?' she purred in Roy's ear. She leant forward and pressed a kiss to his cheek. 'Should I tell you?' he asked" James read dramatically, the firelight reflecting in his glasses. Lily grinned up at him from where she was curled up in an armchair.

"You really should give me back my book" she said, flicking a strand of auburn hair over her shoulder.

"'Should you? Oh, I can think of many reasons why' Celia whispered." Lily leaped up.

"Okay James, that's enough! We're in a public place and there are first years in here!" she grabbed for the book but James held it out of her reach. "Damn you for being tall" she cursed.

"Ah, watch the language, there are first years in here" James mocked, wagging his finger. Lily crossed her arms and huffed, flopping back down into her chair and draping a fuzzy Gryffindor blanket over her. James opened his mouth to start reading, but Lily beat him to it.

"She pressed her lips to Roy's and pushed him down, laying on top of him. 'Is that what you were wanting?' she whispered in between kisses" Lily muttered, her face bright red. James stared at her, then his face slowly broke into a teasing grin.

"You have it memorized! How many times have you read this book?" he asked, squeezing onto the chair next to her and pulling a corner of her blanket over his lap. Lily stared obstinately in the other direction. James poked her in the ribs. "Come on, tell me." Lily's mask started to crack, then she lost it and began giggling.

"Eight times"

"Eight times?" James snorted.

"Yes, eight times. I'm not as goody-goody as you think!" Lily said, her green eyes shining with mirth.

"I know that" James said. "I just never took you as the type to read shitty romance novels."

"Well, Marlene made me read it the first time. Besides, a girl has to have one badly written romance to fall back on when she's bored" Lily informed him. James walked his fingers up her arm to her neck. She stared at him. Then she sighed and leant forward, pressing her lips firmly to his and sliding her hand into his hair. James smiled into the kiss.

"'Maybe' he whispered" Lily quoted against James's lips. James pulled away from Lily and pulled her close.

"There's nothing more I'd want than sitting here with you, Lily" he said sincerely. Lily brushed a lock of black hair off his forehead.

"I love you, James" she said, and burrowed into his chest. James held her close.

"I love you, too."
