Light whirls around, causing L to be pulled slightly to the right, eyes full of malice.
"Don't groundlessly accuse me of being Kira, Ryuuzaki. It's insulting."
"It's not groundless accusation, Light-kun."
"That's news to me, L-sama." Light replies, twisting the normally respectful honorific into something derogatory, sarcastic.
"I mean it," L says, grabbing hold of the fuming Light's shoulders, and he's serious. "When we first met and talked, just as soon as I told you that I am L... You started acting different. And the facial or verbal quirks when you spoke to me was only about a quarter of my assumption. I watched you before then, too, but you know that. If you're really not Kira, you don't have to keep telling me you aren't."
"Of course I acted differently when you told me you're L," Light says, averting his eyes from the detective and shrugging his hands off his shoulders, turning three-hundred sixty degrees to the right, because he'd pulled the chain around himself when he angrily turned to face L earlier.
"What do you mean by that, Light-kun?"
Light freezes, not facing the detective. "Take into account who I was - who I am - when you told me. I'm the son of the chief of the NPA, interested in becoming part of the Japanese Police myself eventually. It's only natural that I had heard of you - of L. I got excited, because you'd been an idol to me long before I met you. And what, exactly, does one say to their idol? Of course I had a lot of things I wanted to ask you, tell you... And before I got a chance..."
"I told you that you were my prime suspect in the Kira case. I see." L absently nibbled on his thumbnail. A silence ensued. Eventually Light turned to unwind the chain the rest of the way, glancing at the detective, but he seemed to be lost in thought, so he quickly turns his gaze.
Suddenly L's lips crash onto Light's mouth, the suspect only getting out a muffled 'mmph!' of resistance.
