The arrival

Bella Pov

The engine stopped. I was at Charlie's house, the place I would be calling home for at least the next year. I looked out the window of Charlie's police cruser, it was raining and it was the middle of July, but what did I expect? This was Forks, I'd left the sun in Phoenix along with my mum and her new husband, Phil.

I sat in the car considering the pros and cons of sitting in the car and waiting for the rain to stop. The only problem was- it might never stop. I decided I should make a run for it.

Three….two…ONE

I opened the car door, stood up, slammed the door shut and ran to the porch for cover.

In the front garden of the next door neighbours house a small girl, dressed in pink wellies and a transparent pink rainmac which reached her knees, she was holding a pink umbrella with two little ears and the face of a cat on and was walking up and down the driveway singing, very loudly.

'Rain, rain go away come again another day rain rain go away come again another day!' then without stopping for breath she burst into incy wincy spider.

Her mother came out to get her as the rain had started to get harder, the little girl, seeing an opportunity, let her mother get over to her before she jumped in to a huge puddle and splashed water all over herself and her mother. Then they both burst into uncontrollable laughter and chased each other around the drive.

I watched on in wonder, everyone could find some fun in the rain, maybe life here wouldn't be too bad and plus I had Jake.

* * * * * * * * * *

I walked into Charlie's small kitchen shaking my hair out like a dog and spraying the counters with droplets of water which glistened like crystal in the light.

'Thanks again Ch… dad, for the truck and you know… letting me stay with you' I said to try and break the awkward silence. 'Errm… can I go and visit Jake? I'll be back to make dinner if you want.'

'Okay kiddo, you go out and have fun, don't worry about dinner, we can order a pizza- to celerbrate your… coming to stay'

'Thanks dad, but I'll be back by 7.00(pm)' I replied with a smile.

I grabbed my coat and the keys to my new truck and headed out into the rain.

'du du du du du du du we're singing in the rain… what a beautiful thing and I'm happy! La la la la la la la la la la the suns in my heart and im having fun! la la la la dancing in the rain la la la la'

As soon as I got to my truck I shut the doors and sat listening to the young girl and her mother playing outside and singing a song neither of them knew the words to, I felt a pang of homesickness but pushing that aside I started the old cars engine and slowly backed out the driveway.
